@CryptoMikli People will want other people involved for accountability reasons. AI will help people and scale existing workforces but not replace workers, especially in places where stakes are high.

Andrew Yang explains why lawyers will be replaced by AI “The first thing that jumped into my mind when you said that was lawyer. Law school applications, last I checked, went up 21% last year, and I would suggest that was a flight to safety, and that stuff’s not safe at all. Lawyering is highly structured. It’s very process oriented. It’s kind of the ideal environment for AI” “I have friends who are partners in law firms who say, ‘Look, I’m giving AI work that would have taken a second or third year associate a week to complete, and it gives it back to me in 20 minutes. So why on earth would I hire a small army of these associates?’”

Ok, I'm apparently not good at writing parables, because nearly everyone interpreted it wrong. I used a parable because I want to respect others' service records, especially when not all the facts are out yet. So let's pivot to a much more direct analogy. In 2016, career intelligence professionals, people who had genuinely spent their lives fighting America's enemies, became convinced that a foreign power had compromised the incoming president. They had data points. Real ones. Trump had business dealings in Moscow. He said nice things about Putin on camera. People in his orbit had meetings with Russian nationals. A dossier appeared with salacious claims. Each data point individually was... a data point. But they were looking for Russia. So they found Russia. Everywhere. They were so certain they were right that they leaked to the press. They used classification authority to spy on American citizens. They presented unverified opposition research to a FISA court as intelligence. Peter Strzok texted about "insurance policies." Andrew McCabe authorized leaks. They were experienced professionals who genuinely believed the republic was in danger. Their service records were real. Their concern was sincere. And they were wrong.

I'm a Smurf. I've been hired to run counter-intelligence operations at Smurf Village. My role is political; I've personally gone up against the evil wizard Gargamel. But once I'm on the inside, I discover that Smurf Village has a relationship with a goat-riding human boy called Peewit. Peewit isn't a Smurf. He's caused a lot of damage with his antics over the years. Why is he even here? I start digging. I pull up Papa Smurf's history with Peewit. Papa Smurf has been collaborating with this kid for years. Protecting him. Making excuses for him. Why? Peewit is reckless. Peewit makes messes. But Papa Smurf keeps letting him back in. The more I dig, the more Peewit I find. He's everywhere. In every file, behind every favor, connected to every mess. A picture forms in my head: if I'm looking for Peewit everywhere and I keep finding Peewit, the only logical conclusion is that Peewit is the one controlling Papa Smurf. Then a prominent Smurf gets assassinated. They say Gargamel's people did it. Case closed, move along. But I get access to the dead Smurf's private messages. And there's Peewit. Right there in the chats. The same Peewit I've been laser-focused on all year. Pressuring him. Making demands. I bring this to Papa Smurf and his inner circle. I bring it with alarm. Papa Smurf looks at me funny. And then — just like that — I'm kicked out of the investigation. No explanation. Just... out. This is the final proof that Peewit is controlling the Smurf Village. I know what I saw. I have to get the truth out there. So I do the unthinkable. I leak the information.

Hate to say it bros, but I don't think Vance is gonna be the 2028 nominee. It'll take the polls a few months to catch up at least. Kamala Harris is going to stomp her pasty white competition. Either way, the future is bright for another ten years of Republican dominance.

Anti-eviction laws are a tax paid by everyone responsible and productive in society to its most irresponsible and parasitic. Where it's easy to kick out people who don't pay rent, rents for everyone are lower.

Veronica Hegens thought she’d made a sound financial decision in September 2023 by renting out her row house in Southwest D.C. Now the retired Army major is in danger of losing the property to foreclosure because of a tenant who hasn’t paid rent since October and who also has no immediate plans to leave. bit.ly/4bfbEC6

Tucker Carlson asked Joe Kent why the Thomas Crooks surveillance tapes haven’t been released. Kent’s answer blew him away. He explained the government deliberately withholds information to create noise with conspiracy theories, so the “actual question never gets answered.” TUCKER: “The current president was the subject of a near-successful assassination attempt.” “And we’re just not going to look into very obviously or divulge information that everyone knows they have.” “For example, the surveillance tape from the shooting range at which Thomas Crooks trained, because it would answer the question, was he training with somebody?” “And if so, who? They have that footage, and they won’t release it. What could possibly be the explanation for that?” KENT: “I know what the result is. The result is people come to their own conclusions. And this is where crazy conspiracy theories come from.” “And then those conspiracy theories usually are easy to ‘debunk’ or make the people saying them sound crazy. So then the actual question never gets answered.” [Tucker laughs in awe] TUCKER: “Sorry. Can you say that for people who haven’t lived in Washington?” “I try to explain this to people all the time because this has been ongoing since at least the Kennedy assassination.” “But this is a very serious and recurring thing. It’s a tactic. And you just explained it better than anyone I’ve ever heard. Can you just do that again?” KENT: “So basically, you give no information whatsoever on something that’s obvious, that there should be information.” “You outlined there’s potentially footage of Crooks at the shooting range. Again, police, 101, go get the tapes. Let’s figure it out.” “If you don’t want to address that question, then you just go silent. You say, ‘you can’t ask that question,’ which then creates people who come out of kind of nowhere, and they start drawing their own conclusions.” “Knowing the way the internet works, half of them, if not more, are probably going to be so far off in left field... that then you can just be like, Oh, these people asking these questions about that tape at the video range. Crazy conspiracy theorists.’” “And so then you’ve just diverted all attention away from the thing that you’re trying to conceal. And now everyone’s focused on the crazies.” TUCKER: “Man.” KENT: “And then the second someone asks a legitimate question, they’re ‘crazy.’”

The FBI just acknowledged that the federal government buys Americans' location data in its testimony to the Senate Select Subcommittee on Intelligence. This is a clear violation of the Fourth Amendment and is why I introduced the Government Surveillance Reform Act - to close the data broker loophole that allows intelligence agencies to buy Americans' private data.

I'm going to make some obvious points. (1) Blowing up all the oil infrastructure in the Middle East is an insane idea, and may well result in a global economic crash and humanitarian crisis unrivaled in the lives of those now living. We're talking about the price of everything everywhere rising, from food to gas, at a moment when inflation was already high. All of that will be laid at the feet of the authors of this war. (2) The antebellum status quo of Feb 27, 2026 was just not that bad, but we're unlikely to return to it. Expect indefinite, long-term, ongoing disruptions to everything out of the Middle East. (3) Also assume tech financing crashes for the indefinite future. The genius plan to get the Gulf states caught in the crossfire has incinerated much of the funding for LPs, for datacenters, and for IPOs. Anyone in tech who supported this war may soon learn the meaning of "force majeure" as funding gets yanked. (4) Many capital allocators will instead be allocating much further down Maslow's hierarchy of needs, towards useful basic things like food and energy. (5) It's fortunate that all those progressives yelled about the "climate crisis." Yes, their reasoning about timelines was wrong, and much of the money was wasted in graft, but the result was right: we all need energy independence from the Middle East, pronto. It's also fortunate that Elon and China autistically took climate seriously. Now they're going to need to ship a billion solar panels, electric vehicles, batteries, nuclear power plants, and the like to get everyone off oil, immediately. (6) It's not just an oil and gas problem, of course. It's also a fertilizer problem, and a chemical precursor problem. Maybe some new sources will come online at the new prices, but it takes time to dial stuff up, particularly at this scale, so shortages are almost a certainty. That said, China has actually scaled up coal-to-chemicals[a,c] (C2C), and there's also something more sci-fi called Power-to-X[b] which turns arbitrary power + water + air into hydrocarbons. But all of that will need to get accelerated. I have a background in chemical engineering so may start funding things in this area. (7) Ultimately, this war is going to result in tremendous blame for anyone associated with it. It's a no-win scenario to blow up this much infrastructure for so many people. Simply not worth it for whatever objective they thought they were going to attain. But unless you're actually in a position to stop the madness, the pragmatic thing to do is: scramble to mitigate the fallout to yourself, your business, and your people. I am not saying I believe it, but if Joe Kent was leaking classified info, and they can actually back it up, should he not be prosecuted because of politics? Just want to make sure I understand if we are actually playing the real game or the fake game.
