Last night a drunk dude at the bar casually suggested uprooting the Statue of Liberty and parading it through the streets if the Knicks go all the way.

You know what director has never once acknowledged people being weird about them online because why would they give a fuck? Yeah you know the one.
Variety@Variety

#JordanFirstman says he felt like "a punching bag" online "for a long time" before premiering his directorial debut "Club Kid" at #Cannes: "People saw something more sinister in me than I felt like I was, but then you wonder, 'Am I that?' It was tough. I was low-level depressed about it since 2021. There was a hum of 'everyone hates me' for a long time." variety.com/2026/film/news…

@mcllds calling it the first line implies you're supposed to skip over the Etymology and Extracts sections!

the 100 Best Novels of All Time list published by The Guardian today gets the first sentence of Moby-Dick wrong, but that's fine, so does everybody. far more obscene is this:

As I've already said: Lupita is incredibly beautiful but we now know why this part actually really couldn't be anyone else. She's dual cast. She's playing Helen, and her sister Clytemnestra. There is no other A lister, with Lupita's acting pedigree, status in the fashion world,

@Empty_America El Gregory is famous for this. All of his stuff looks distinctly 20th century but he made this in the 1500s.

@BODY_W0_WHORGAN when I finally watched it I was reminded why I shouldn’t put so much stock in the opinions of people who primarily debate movies on twitter

@insufficentfund feel like this has to be pretty standard with all-english language bookstores abroad, given that most shoppers will be tourists

I am positively shocked at how much the Paris Shakespeare & Company sucks. Gigantic sprawls of YA and a little pity corner dedicated to "Classics" which are mostly those gaudy Penguin Clothbound editions.

@alexskopic pretty sure ordering used copies helps get around this - you risk an annotated copy but i've had better luck that way

Had a version of this last year when Blurry, Pixelated Emil Cioran showed up. Amazon is actively polluting the book market at this point.

the song isn’t extremely good, especially if you expect a certain kind of sound from lean, but for any artist, i thought it sounded kind of great if not outright great. bladee is probably the one who still sometimes releases songs that haven’t deviated as much from his older sound.
