Governor Tax Moore prefers to work with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) over establishing an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) because he receives campaign contributions from individuals from BCG. Maryland urgently needs the establishment of an Office of the Inspector General. Eight agencies within the state have expended $3.5 billion without proper documentation, and there are $360 million in unauthorized expenses related to federal projects from the State Highway Administration (SHA) that remain unaccounted for. The Senate passed a preliminary measure to approve Governor Moore's 2026 budget, and it does nothing to address the long-term structural deficit of $4 billion by 2030 while making large cuts to the Developmental Disabilities Administration at $125 million. Utilizing funds from the American Rescue Plan, Maryland entered a contractual agreement with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in 2024. According to the contract, BCG will earn up to $15 million if they successfully identify $75 million in savings. In contrast, establishing an Office of the Inspector General (OIG) would cost only $1.87 million annually and have the potential to uncover significant savings within the government. If we fail to implement an Office of the Inspector General, our fiscal crisis and financial health could deteriorate even further. I am fully committed to this initiative because establishing a statewide OIG is essential for the well-being of Marylanders. This isn't a partisan measure or a Republican talking point. This is a good governance measure that strengthens government efficiency, prevents fraud, saves taxpayers money, and provides accountability with subpoena power and criminal referral. An Office of the Inspector General will enhance public trust in local government and our institutions, ultimately restoring good governance in Maryland!

Did @GovWesMoore say Maryland “MeatOut Day”? How about on March 20th, you go OUT and: 🔥 Fire up the grill. 🥩 Support your local butcher. 🚜 Buy from Maryland farmers. Buy local. Grill local. Eat local. Maryland agriculture feeds this state — and it deserves our support. #MarylandMeatOutDay #BuyLocal #SupportFarmers @FarmBureauMD #DontTreadOnMySteaks

@SenSchumer John Fetterman why is the rest of my party shutting down the government. Ice has nothing to do with TSA. They stopped paying Americans for no reason. There is nothing to do about ice, its funded already until 2029. Chuck is lying again

In a few minutes Democrats will be giving Republicans a FIFTH chance to pay TSA workers. Will they finally fund TSA or once again object?
