Today’s attacks on humanitarian workers are war crimes. The world cannot accept this as normal. Too many aid workers have died like this around the world. Russia is a permanent member of the UN Security Council but it attacks UN and WCK vehicles in Kherson, Ukraine. While the aid workers survived unharmed, one resident died. This war needs to end now. The suffering needs to end now. We are an American-based NGO @realDonaldTrump @FLOTUS @SecRubio #ChefsForUkraine

The search and rescue operation at the site of Russia’s strike on a residential building in Kyiv has been completed. Our first responders from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine worked continuously for more than a day. The Russians practically demolished an entire section of the building with their missile. Twenty-four people were killed by this strike, including three children. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Everyone who was wounded or lost their home must receive the necessary assistance. In total, 48 people were wounded in Kyiv as a result of yesterday’s attack, including two children. I thank the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and everyone who dealt with the aftermath of this Russian attack and helped people. A Russia like this can never be normalized – a Russia that deliberately destroys lives and hopes to remain unpunished. Pressure is needed. It is Ukraine that is defending Europe and the world so that such strikes, in which children are killed, do not spread further. That is why support for the defenders of life must continue. Ballistic missile defense is always needed. I thank the partners who continue investing in the PURL initiative and develop our anti-ballistic coalition. All of this must be implemented. I am grateful to everyone who did not remain silent and condemned this savage strike.

Israel is threatening to sue the NYT over Kristof’s piece on sexual violence in Israeli prisons. Prediction: it won’t actually go forward. A real suit means discovery, witnesses, and opening the prisons. The last things Israel wants on the record.
Israel Foreign Ministry@IsraelMFA

Following the publication by Nicholas Kristof in The New York Times of one of the most hideous and distorted lies ever published against the State of Israel in the modern press, which also received the backing of the newspaper, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar have instructed the initiation of a defamation lawsuit against The New York Times.

As of now, already 5 people have been reported killed in Kyiv as a result of last night’s Russian attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Around 40 people have been injured in the capital, and another 7 in the Kyiv region. There are already 28 injured in Kharkiv. And two people have been injured in the Odesa region. In total, 180 sites have been damaged across the country, including more than 50 ordinary residential buildings. A search and rescue operation is still ongoing in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. Efforts continue to find people under the rubble. More than 10 people are reported missing. All necessary services are also operating in the Obolonskyi district. And recovery efforts are underway after Russian strikes in the Poltava region. Overall, more than 750 personnel of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and nearly 750 police officers have already been engaged across the country to eliminate the consequences of the attack. I am grateful to all who help the rescuers and the police Also, earlier today, during a humanitarian mission in Kherson, the Russians twice attacked a vehicle of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs with FPV drones, and the Russians could not have been unaware of which vehicle they were targeting. The Head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and eight other staff members were inside. Fortunately, no one was injured. The mission personnel have been evacuated. Even so, a significant number of missiles and drones were shot down during these attacks – the overall interception rate is over 93%. Of course, it needs to be higher. And of course, the most difficult challenge is defending against ballistic missiles. I thank everyone who is helping us with this. There must be a just response to all these strikes. And pressure on Moscow must be such that they feel the consequences of their terror there. It is important that global sanctions against Russia remain in place. Russia’s accountability for this war, and our sanctions pressure, must work at full strength. And it is also very important that the world does not stay silent about this terror and stands with Ukraine.

The man who built the iPhone just entered China carrying a burner phone because his own device is considered a security liability in Beijing. Tim Cook’s final diplomatic act before stepping down as Apple CEO on September 1 is negotiating in a country where American intelligence considers every piece of inbound electronics a target for state-sponsored surveillance. The executive who spent a decade arguing Apple devices are the most secure consumer electronics on earth had to leave them at the airport. On May 13, President Trump arrived in Beijing for a summit with Xi Jinping accompanied by the most concentrated delegation of American corporate power ever assembled on a single diplomatic mission. Cook was there. Elon Musk rode Air Force One. Jensen Huang joined at the last minute during a refueling stop in Alaska because the semiconductor question was too urgent to leave him behind. Larry Fink of BlackRock, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs, Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone, Kelly Ortberg of Boeing, Jane Fraser of Citi, Cristiano Amon of Qualcomm, Sanjay Mehrotra of Micron, and Larry Culp of GE Aerospace were all on the manifest. Every one of them left personal phones in the United States. Every one carried a clean, stripped temporary device with no stored data and no access to corporate systems. Plugging any device into any USB port in China risks data exfiltration through what federal agencies call juice jacking. The protocol has been standard for senior US government travel to China for over a decade. What is new is the roster. The CEOs of the companies building the $700 billion AI infrastructure, designing the chips, manufacturing the devices, managing the capital, and running the supply chains all entered the country that sits on the other side of every one of those dependencies, carrying phones that could not send an email. Cook is negotiating Apple’s supply chain future in a country where Apple manufactures the majority of its products. He is doing so in his final months as CEO, weeks after announcing John Ternus as his successor, and days after Apple reached a preliminary deal with Intel to manufacture chips in the United States as a hedge against exactly this kind of dependency. The same month. The same executive. One hand reaching toward American factories. The other hand reaching into Beijing with a disposable phone. Huang’s addition is the most revealing signal. Nvidia was initially absent from the list. The chip designer whose GPUs power every AI data center and the $700 billion capex buildout was not originally invited. He joined during a refueling stop in Anchorage because the semiconductor question, export controls on advanced chips China wants and America restricts, could not be discussed without the man who designs them. Trump delayed this trip from March because of the Iran war. He arrived in Beijing while the ceasefire he negotiated is on what he called “massive life support.” He is negotiating the most important bilateral trade relationship on earth while simultaneously managing a military conflict in the Persian Gulf. The delegation carried burner phones because China is hostile to American electronics. But the real vulnerability is not the device. It is the dependency the device represents. Every executive in that room runs a company that cannot fully function without the country they are visiting. The phones were stripped. The supply chains were not. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

A rescue operation is currently underway in Kyiv at the site of a Russian drone strike on a nine-story residential building – an entire section of the building has been completely destroyed. Dozens of people have been rescued. Tragically, one person has been killed. My condolences to their family and loved ones. People may still be trapped under the rubble. Overnight, the Russians launched more than 670 attack drones and 56 missiles against Ukraine. Ballistic, aeroballistic, and cruise missiles were used in the strikes. The main target of this attack was Kyiv. There is damage at twenty locations across the city – ordinary residential buildings, a school, a veterinary clinic, and other purely civilian infrastructure. Destruction has also been reported in the Kyiv region, while similar terrorist strikes targeted energy infrastructure in Kremenchuk, as well as port and residential areas in Chornomorsk. In total, since midnight yesterday, Russia has used more than 1,560 drones against our cities and communities. These are definitely not the actions of those who believe the war is coming to an end. It is important that partners do not remain silent about this strike. And it is equally important to continue supporting the protection of our skies. The PURL initiative is needed so that Ukraine can defend itself against ballistic strikes like these. And likewise, in the interests of everyone seeking peace, pressure on Russia must continue. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine.

The embarrassing fact that keeps Trump desperately seeking a facesaving way out of his war of choice with Iran -- Obama's nuclear accord, which he ripped up, was far more effective in limiting Iran's path to a nuclear weapon than Trump-Netanyahu's bombing. x.com/MarcoFoster_/s…

President Obama on Iran: “We pulled it off without firing a missile. We got 97% of their enriched uranium out. There’s no dispute that it worked and we didn’t have to kill a whole bunch of people or shut down the Strait of Hormuz”

"This summit is now shaping up to be a major diplomatic win for Xi. He convinced Trump to trek across the Pacific Ocean with his coterie of Epstein associates, rapists, drunks, and buffoons, drawing the eyes of the world with them. Now, they'll end up flying back to America..."
Occupy Democrats@OccupyDemocrats

BREAKING: Trump's big meeting with Xi Jinping gets humiliatingly DOWNSIZED as Air Force One arrives in Beijing and U.S. leverage evaporates! This is shaping up to be a historic embarrassment... “It’s the shrinking summit. It’s pretty clear the Trump team is in a very difficult position and it’s very possible Trump goes to Beijing preoccupied and weakened," said Zack Cooper, a former Deputy National Security Advisor for the George W. Bush White House. The Trump administration originally said that the meeting with Xi tomorrow and Friday would focus on trade, fentanyl, and the Iran War. Trump himself previously bragged that it would be a "Monumental Event" and that Xi would give him a "big fat hug." That hug now looks to be a big middle finger. The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that the two leaders will discuss “major issues concerning China-U.S. relations and world peace and development" but did not mention the marquee items that have been bandied about by the White House. And now Trump is backpedaling. As recently as Monday, he said that the discussions would include Iran and energy. That's no longer the case. “We have a lot of things to discuss. I wouldn’t say Iran is one of them, to be honest with you, because we have Iran very much under control," Trump said on Tuesday. “A year ago, there was all the talk about the prospect for some kind of grand bargain between the U.S. and China. What I’ve heard over and over again is that maybe little bargains are possible," said Jonathan Czin, a former senior China analyst for the CIA. The analysis here is rather straightforward. Xi knows that Trump is in a weakened position. Thanks to his disastrous Iran War and ongoing Epstein coverup, he has never been more unpopular domestically. At the same time, his primary bludgeoning tool in foreign negotiations was removed by the Supreme Court when they struck down his tariff powers. “The confidence that you see from Beijing in recent months that they are negotiating with the United States as equals, if not as the stronger player in the negotiation, is striking,” said Henrietta Levin, a former deputy China director at the Biden State Department. She added that Xi is headed into this summit strengthened by “a perception of U.S. distraction in Iran, and the prospect of the U.S. getting bogged down again in the Middle East." This summit is now shaping up to be a major diplomatic win for Xi. He convinced Trump to trek across the Pacific Ocean with his coterie of Epstein associates, rapists, drunks, and buffoons, drawing the eyes of the world with them. Now, they'll end up flying back to America with nothing to show for it but a few choice photos. “I’m expecting more optics than substance out of the summit. I think some of it will be real and most of it will be fake," said Liza Tobin, who served as National Security Council Director for China during the first Trump term and part of Biden's presidency. Trump promised to be "tough on China." Instead, every single action that he has taken since entering office has strengthened Xi's hand and set the stage for a Chinese century. He gutted our science and research sector, undermined our most crucial alliances, crashed our economy, and continues to prioritize the foreign interests of Israel over our own. This man will go down as the greatest failure in the history of the presidency. Please ❤️ and share if you miss Joe Biden!
