🧑‍⚕️Before becoming the Medical Director at Metabolic Mind and Baszucki Group, @bschermd was a conventionally trained cardiologist who practiced by the book. In this conversation, he shares the patients, moments, and lessons that changed the way he thinks about medicine.

Thank you for your question! Dr. Scher would never tell someone to "not worry" about fatty liver. It is a serious diagnosis that definitely deserves to be taken seriously, and working closely with an experienced healthcare professional. If you need support, the clinician directory on the Diagnosis Diet website may help you find a practitioner experienced in ketogenic and metabolic therapies.

@Metabolic_Mind @bschermd After being on diet for about 2 yrs I was told I had fatty liver disease and have never had problems with liver. I vaguely remembe4 seeing someone in the community saying font worry about fatty liver disease. Is this true?

Headlines say a ketogenic diet harms your liver. The science says otherwise. 👉 @bschermd breaks down the flaws of a new liver study and explains what the higher-quality evidence actually shows about keto and liver health.

Youth mental illness is on the rise, and treatment options are often limited, especially for kids with bipolar disorder. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting a groundbreaking new real-world data collection funded by the Baszucki Group exploring ketogenic therapy as a promising intervention for children and adolescents living with bipolar disorder. In this interview, Elizabeth Errico, founder of the Children's Mental Health Resource Center (CMHRC), shares how her organization is implementing ketogenic therapy in a real-world setting for kids aged 6 to 17. The year-long study is part of a larger initiative supported by the Baszucki Group to expand mental health care options through metabolic approaches. Families in the program receive education, hands-on support, and guidance to help implement this dietary therapy at home—often with life-changing results. In this video, you’ll learn: - Why early diagnosis and support for pediatric bipolar disorder is so critical - How ketogenic therapy is being applied to youth in a structured, supportive way - What families need to implement this therapy successfully - Early anecdotal outcomes from participating families - Why this research could help shift mainstream mental health treatment This is about more than data—it's about hope, empowerment, and building a better path forward for families navigating serious mental illness. Since our last matching campaign our nonprofit program participants have been invited to give feedback at different time points. When participants were asked whether they experienced more positive thoughts about their future compared to before starting the program, over half by the six-month mark reported a meaningful shift toward hope and forward planning. Many for the first time in decades. The July match is open through the 31st, with donations matched 1:1 by @BaszuckiGroup up to $25,000 every.org/brain-fog-reco…

@whitfieldlewis6 Such an important paper. Even though it doesn't prove causation, it is a strong mark against fat, even saturated fat, causing dementia. Hopefully, it will help people learn specific foods and dietary context are far more important than labels like "sat fat," or "plant based."

Hot from the printing press. A 25-year prospective cohort study comparing low-fat dairy consumption versus high-fat consumption and association with dementia. 👇🏾👇🏾 • 27,670 participants • baseline age 58.1 • 25 years of follow-up • consumption of > 50g/d of high-fat cheese (>20% fat) was associated with 13% reduced risk of all-cause dementia AND • Twenty nine (29%) reduction in vascular dementia. • High-fat cream consumption (> 20g/d) had 16% lower risk of all-cause dementia. • High-fat cream was inversely associated with vascular dementia. Are GLP-1s “miracle drugs?” It sure seems like it. Starting as diabetes drugs, they became weight loss drugs and are now expanding into true “miracle drug” territory. They reduce cardiac events, lower cancer rates, and even reduce alcohol dependency. I find this fascinating and worth examining. 🧵

The link between metabolism and mental health is finally getting the attention it deserves. Metabolism profoundly influences mental health, brain function, inflammation, muscle health, and much more. Great to see the conversation advancing into actionable science. 🧠⚡
