We are honored to announce that 1kx has co-led a $25m seed round for @0xMiden, a next-generation edge blockchain. At @1kxnetwork, we view blockchains as application platforms. They should not only serve as the foundational infrastructure for decentralized applications, but also foster and provide network effects for the benefit of all platform participants. Yet, blockchains today have limited network effects due to a couple of critical issues: fragmentation resulting from horizontal scaling, vertical scaling bottlenecks due to a single composable blockspace, and lack of privacy and confidentiality. We believe that next-generation blockchain systems will need to be envisioned from the ground up to solve all the above issues. Miden, the edge blockchain, is an example of a system: it can scale horizontally while preserving interoperability and network effects; individual applications can scale without predefined limits while keeping state private yet auditable. The edge blockchain paradigm is crucially enabled by zero-knowledge proofs--a technology that the Miden team has been a key early pioneer of. When @bobbinth first approached us about Miden’s spin-out from Polygon, we were immediately thrilled about the opportunity to partner and support the effort. This is in part because of Bobbin’s track record of technical contributions to zero-knowledge systems but also more importantly because of how deeply the Miden mission aligns with our thesis. We are extremely honored to partner and support @bobbinth, @schmiddominik1, @azeemk, and the rest of the Miden team on their journey to redefine the capabilities and limits of blockchains.

The problem we're facing with decentralised social graphs today is they are the end result of building a successful social app. When Zuck started Facebook he just wanted to poke girls he liked in college. The term social graph was introduced by him 3 years later. Instead of obsessing about building a social graph teams should be fixated on building an amazing social app which is 1000x better than web2 competitors. The prize of having a super valuable social graph will come later.

So LinkedIn does have its uses.
