Adi Shankara visited Srisailam, and composed the Sivananda Lahiri, Soundarya Lahiri here. It was at Phaladhara Panchadhara, around 4 km from Srisailam where he did penace and composed those works. This place located in a thick forest, can be reached only via stair case of around 160 steps. It is basically twin waterfalls, that gets it's name from the belief that it's water flowing from Shiva's forehead(Phaladhara) and Panchadhara indicating Shiva's Panchamukhas or his 5 aspects. There is a Shankara Matham next to Mallikarjuna Temple which has both Sharadamba and Adi Shankara affiliated to Sringeri Sarada Peetham. #ShankaraJayanti
