How I frame the current Iran op: A) this is about China - it’s cheaper to demonstrate to Xi that the day after a TW invasion his economy will be choked off from energy vs losing American lives protecting the island B) there was Gulf state buy in - specifically Saudi and UAE. This included providing capital to backstop USD assets which are trumps Achilles heel C) the objective is to have control of Hormuz at the end of this - specifically veto power that doesn’t just require a parked carrier which in a conflict China can lob a thousand missiles at. You need land-based American controlled assets there permanently. Either actual Americans or proxies via Israeli or Saudi forces. D) this is not going to be Iraq or Afghanistan - there is a wide spectrum between full regime change and nation building vs small contingents of special forces taking modest strategic points on the strait and carpet bombing everything close enough to put those troops at risk E) regime change isn’t a certainty but higher likelihood than consensus - I’d put it now at 50/50. Again this assumes no boots on ground in Tehran. “Experts” saying this is impossible lack imagination and understanding of how technology has shifted over the last two decades. F) this is also political theatre - both for the American people who lost the appetite for forever wars and who need to fully internalize that Europeans are worthless as allies in their current form as well as the Europeans themselves who need to be reminded how much pain a hostile America can inflict on them if they decide China is their preferred option G) Russia-Ukraine is closely connected to all of this. On one hand Trump can accel Russian production degradation by feeding UKR intelligence on Russian refinery capacity deeper inland while at the same time can completely pull back from supporting Ukraine as part of the aforementioned political theatre… “this is not our fight” - this is why Trump didn’t ask Ukraine for help on drones. It’s a card that can be played in multiple directions. H) analysts are not wrong when they freak out about global energy prices risk. Analysts are wrong to tie that back to midterms and American voters. Trump will use executive powers to manipulate prices at the pump if necessary. I) liquidity is decreasing globally just as it’s about to increase domestically. The U.S. via swap lines and control over institutions like the IMF is the liquidity provider of last resort. Kind of like when your insurance provider starts setting Forrest fires in your neighborhood and then immediately jacks up the premiums you have to pay to protect your house. J) remove the words “fair” and “moral” from your vocabulary. We are firmly in a world of realpolitik and Americas don’t give a flying fuck if the rest of the world burns. Hegemony or bust. K) there is a dual benefit of this war being an advertisement of US military prowess and a weakening of the veneer that China has closed the gap with the US systems. This impacts how countries will act in the coming days and which sphere they opt in to. L) trumps tolerance for dead American soldiers is higher than you think. Trumps tolerance for lower stocks is higher than you think. Doesn’t mean he won’t take steps to mitigate both. You don’t fight for hegemony without being certain you can handle punches to the face. M) terror attacks on the US will be the final step for Iran before regime change. It’s higher prob than consensus thinks but it’s also not a certainty because Americans are bloodthirsty when the homeland is touched and it’s a door you can’t walk back out of. European & UAE terror attacks likely come first. N) this operation has gone better than any reasonable analyst would have predicted. Panicans are starting from the premise that every person in Washington is retarded and Trump walked into a trap with the assumption that not a single barrel of oil would be lost or soldier scratched. Retardation 🫡

Watching the videos of the NDP convention, I'm just shocked at how weird and creepy and insane the NDP has become. I say this as someone who spent 11 years as an ardent NDP member from 2006 to 2017. They are just batshit crazy now. Most normal people have left the party. I really hope many of the still existing NDP voters watch the videos of the convention being shown online because that will turn them off of the NDP completely. I bet Carla Beck and Naheed Nenshi are really really hoping voters in their provinces don't see the videos because unfortunately for them, most voters have difficulty differentiating between federal and provincial--all they'll see is that the NDP has gone bonkers.

The NDP was once about workers, fairness, and putting Canadians first. Now it’s just another arm of the uniparty—pushing division, identity politics, and the same tired globalist agenda. While they argue over made-up issues, Canadians are struggling with rising costs, broken systems, and a country losing its direction. The PPC is filling that void. ✔️ Pro-worker ✔️ Anti–foreign wars ✔️ Against corporate protectionism driving up prices ✔️ Putting Canadians first If you feel abandoned by the parties that all sound the same—it’s because they are. Two men arrested for torching four ambulances were released on bail within a single day. Meanwhile, Lucy Connolly was denied bail for over two months simply for posting offensive words online. Britain’s justice system under Keir Starmer is rotten.

From the posts of public officials, I've heard only of the complaints over language and nothing about the grieving family or those with injuries. So in the past few days we've had the NDP leadership convention, the Junos, and now this resignation. It all points to a very sick nation indeed. Equity cards, sign language interpreters playing air guitar and someone forced into resignation for not being bilingual, even though there were subtitles on the airing of his condolence speech on the news. Some say we aren't a serious country. I say we are an utterly fucked nation. Now we have Champagne Shorty heading back to China our main threat. I hate my nation. Truly. Its been dysfunctional for many years, but now its inconceivable how bad its becoming. All very intentional as well.

🚨 BREAKING: The Air Canada CEO just “retired.” Not because of years of Official Languages violations. Not because of record complaints to the Commissioner. Not because his airline has been fined over and over for failing to serve Canadians in French. Because he posted a condolence video IN ENGLISH, after 2 of his pilots died. Parliament summoned him. Quebec's Premier demanded his resignation. And this was driven by Liberals, who are desperate to make sure they win Terrebonne. They don’t care about the dead pilots. They care about winning. Two pilots are dead. A fire truck with no transponder was on an active runway. One controller was doing two jobs! NO ONE got summoned over that. But the language of a grief video? CAREER OVER. This country has lost the plot.

Elevators used to be manually operated and were especially risky if the operator was tired or inebriated. Now, you just get in, press a button and a modern elevator, if inspected regularly, is extremely safe.
James Stephenson@ICannot_Enough

Nobody is skeptical of autonomous elevators because nobody alive today was even around to see a human elevator operator in real life before the last one got laid off. Automation is far safer.

Is anyone in the market for a 700-year-old Templar Knights watchtower? Because there's one for sale in the Lot valley, France. 7 bedrooms across 6 floors, a frescoed dining room, spiral staircase and views over a peaceful medieval village in the Lot region. There's also a 2-bedroom stone cottage in the walled courtyard, an enclosed garden and a heated swimming pool. Asking price: €550k ($634k). The Templar Knights who built this probably didn't picture the pool. But here we are.

Who would want this future? These people are absolutely miserable. I couldn’t imagine employing any of them. What they are doing is the very definition of privilege. Imagine if these individuals had to actually get anything done? It must be exhausting to live like this.

Canada's privacy regulator cannot fine anyone for cyber attacks, data leaks, and systemic security negligence. ----------------------- The OPC found Loblaw was faking data deletion. They continue to keep your purchase history, IP addresses, and browsing data after you asked them to delete your account. Five days later, Loblaw disclosed a data breach. The penalty? A letter asking them to do better within 12 months. ----------------------- Telus Digital lost 1 petabyte of data. CIRO - the body that regulates your investment dealer, exposed 750,000 investors' SINs. PowerSchool exposed 2.77 million children's records. The hacker was a 19-year-old with stolen credentials. Total federal fines issued across all four breaches: $0. ----------------------- Bill C-27 would have introduced fines up to 3% of global revenue. It died in January 2025. No replacement has been tabled. ----------------------- If you're a lawyer in Canada who thinks this is broken, I'm building something. Follow along.

Your visual cortex burns 44% of your brain's energy budget. Turning off the lights in the shower is the fastest way to slash that load to near zero. Your brain is 2% of your body weight but burns 20% of your total energy. Visual processing alone eats almost half of that. Every photon hitting your retina triggers a cascade of neural signaling that demands oxygen, glucose, and ATP at rates higher than almost any other cognitive function. When you kill the lights, you're removing the single largest energy load on your cortex. That freed-up metabolic capacity gets reallocated. This is where it gets interesting. A 2022 study from the Laureate Institute for Brain Research measured what happens when you strip sensory input from anxious patients. High-frequency heart rate variability, the gold standard marker of parasympathetic activation, increased significantly compared to controls. Blood pressure dropped. Breathing rate fell. The nervous system shifted from sympathetic dominance to parasympathetic mode within minutes. The warm water adds a second mechanism. Core body temperature rises during the shower. When you step out, temperature drops rapidly. That cooling signal triggers melatonin production and primes the circadian system for sleep. Layer darkness on top: no photons suppressing melatonin through the retinal ganglion cells, no blue-light signaling to the suprachiasmatic nucleus that it's still daytime. The shower is doing three things simultaneously. Reducing cortical energy demand by eliminating visual input. Activating the parasympathetic nervous system through sensory reduction. Triggering thermoregulatory sleep signaling through the heat-then-cool cycle. A $0 float tank that takes 10 minutes.
