In case you were wondering what Jackstrap actually is: It's a game about playing as a living jockstrap and defending the family jewels. Just a normal, serious videogame. #Jackstrap #gamedev #solodev #indiegame

France had an anti-piracy system called HADOPI to stop people from illegally downloading movies and music, but on April 30, 2026, France’s highest court ruled that the main part of this system is illegal. It broke European rules on privacy and human rights. The system sent warnings to internet users suspected of sharing files, and the court said it did not protect people’s private information well enough. The new agency, called Arcom, can still block big pirate websites, but the warnings and fines for ordinary people are mostly finished. This is a big win for groups that defend digital rights after 17 years of work.

Andraž - WISHLIST GiFoB
So many devs have been posting their incredible wishlist numbers, so I thought to show my "less crazy" amount to add a bit of perspective to the conversation :) Keep going everyone, we got this too :D #indiedev #indiegame

heh, I'm not getings this... I'm testing about 300 games monthly - demos, playtest, private builds and devs still can't do a proper demo, so here's 10 things that you need to know, because the real players hate them too. 1. when playing a demo, I don't need the story, intro, I want to see pure mechanics. fighting if it's a fighting game, platforming if it's platformer. adding 5min of stories for those genres if I will play only 5 min of your game is ruining everything. save it for the full version. 2. I hate nonskippable text and videos, like in point 1. I'm here for the gameplay, so instead of watching, I like to feel it, to try it, to convince myself that this is something I would pay for. 3. giving a basic options for the player is a must. like turning off the CRT effects, scanlines, screenshake (I hate this one!), changing resolution, run in background, no minimizing when on other screen (it's for streamers, you will thank me later) 4. no feedback button! this is serious problem, instead of joining 124 discord channel, I want to give you a proper feedback with a private survey - in which you can collect my email for further discussions. 5. demo don't need to be super polished, but for god's sakes, don't put harsh and repeatable sounds into it, because it will do bad first impression 6. it's good to have a proper tutorial but it should be totally optional, especially in the demo where I want to experiment, but you've implemented 20min no-skippable tutorial :/ 7. if you can, do the translation for your demo. this is a sign for the players that you're taking care of them. they will likely add +1 in overall score of your demo and it will help you to get those important wishlists. 8. use steam community hub. make a demo thread. just be there, read the messages, help players and take notes. 9 . not limit your demo to 2 weeks or so, some of us are very busy and there are about 50 great games each week, so your demo will be played eventually, but at later time. give the players time and they will repay you in wishlists 10. update your demo along with the full version, some players are very eager to try first and pay later. you don't need to have this big green button al the time, but blue button on the side will help to decide.

I made over $1mil with my 9 games on Steam, and I've been asked an interesting question: "is the majority of that revenue from a small number of very successful titles, or is the secret making a lot of them and it adds up?" The answer is how it is a bit of both. Personally I've never had a mega hit but I've definitely had a big gap between successful and unsuccessful games. I think my biggest hits were Game Corp DX which made about $250k and Blueprint Tycoon which made about $200k. So just those two made a big chunk of my total. But then the others, some made just $10k, others made $100k, so it varies quite a bit. In the end the fact that I have made so many games really helps smooth out the revenue curve. I'm a big fan of making small games and slowly increasing the baseline revenue. If I were not currently primarily focused on teaching that is exactly what I would be doing. Make and publish lots of small games to have a relatively smooth month to month income. FUN FACT: Even super old games still sell a handful every month. My first Steam Game, Survivor Squad, still pays me about one or two lunches every month, even though the game is over 10 years old!

Making games is incredibly terrifying. Players don't care if your game was made by one person with zero budget, or a massive AAA studio with millions of dollars. The only thing they care about is if they enjoy playing it or not.

@forgeai_loop Lol for sure But its an arena survivor so it should have lots of enemies Although jackstrap should be more about strategy than, say, vampire survivors

Stress testing Jackstrap's enemy count before any optimization work. Right now it starts getting messy at 350 enemies on screen. Not bad for a raw pass, but there’s clearly a lot of optimization ahead once I add enemy types, behaviors, animations. #Jackstrap #gamedev #indiedev

In a world where generative AI is forced upon us at every opportunity, it feels pretty radical to make an entirely hand-drawn horse riding game where placing every line and picking every color takes hours of work and years of practice. We think it's worth it. Do you? 💖

Why were Europeans so whiney about the attached bottle caps?? Regardless of environmental reasons, it does not interfere with drinking at all and it’s actually super convenient to not need to hold on the cap! 10/10 Canada should adopt!
