@skhetpal There was a ton of dilution right before the IPO because of the mergers and they won't be able to sell any shares from the IPO for 180 days so no one really knows the ultimate value... But investing so they'll still make a lot of money.

Back in 2019, a little-known hedge fund called Darsana bought into SpaceX at a $30B valuation. At today's $2 trillion mark, that stake is a 40-plus bagger and, by my estimate, over 70% of a fund that has likely grown from $1.4B at launch to ~$25B today. Here's the story!

@grinich Meetings being the definition of "productivity" sounds like the opposite of what I want to encourage.

Being a founder means your "unit of work" is typically a meeting. I talk with customers, candidates, execs, eng teams, investors, etc. So to make myself feel better I made a GitHub-style activity chart. Green! ✅🤣

Proud @netalico was featured in @Shopify's new piece on AI + enterprise migration 🚀 Here's the truth from years of running these (and a stint in @NASA 's enterprise IT group): the AI isn't the hard part. The strategy is. 🗑️ Garbage in, slop out, just faster ✨ Gold in, real shine Strategy's the gold mine. AI's just the execution. shopify.com/enterprise/blo…

I'm curious when it will come out how much @sriramk and @pmarca (@OpenAI investors) had to do with halting Fable 5's release. Pretty sure @a16z is going to come out on the dark side of history in a few years whenever a new administration comes into power and discloses everything that's gone on.

🇺🇸🚀 SOME NEWS: I'll be leaving my role at the White House at the end of this month. After a break I’ll be working on helping tackle some of the large challenges facing America on AI (more on that later). It is hard to express how big a privilege it has been to serve the American people and how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to do so. First and foremost, it has been an honor to serve under President @realDonaldTrump . Without his leadership, we would not be leading in the AI race. Second, I owe a lot to the person I’ve worked mostly closely with over the last 18 months - @DavidSacks . His continuing advocacy for America winning on AI has been and continues to be crucial. Some key public accomplishments from last year I’m proud of 1. Architecting and publishing the American AI Action Plan - charting the course for America to win on AI and helping execute on that for the last year. 2. The AI acceleration partnerships to help American AI stack win globally. 3. The National AI Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence executive order (forming the basis for working with the Hill this year) 4. Advocating for the American AI stack with our allies globally (the AI summits in France and India, state visits to the UK, the Middle East and more) So what’s next? The past 18 months have given me a front row seat to this critical moment on AI facing America and our allies. Whether it is energy, data centers or a clear path for Americans to experience the benefits of AI, there are many tough issues we all need to navigate together. I plan on building institutions that help tackle some of those challenges for America and its allies. I want to thank many others who have helped along the way in the administration : Kevin Hassett, @mkratsios47 , CoS @SusieWiles47 , VP @JDVance , @StevenCheung47 , Sec Bessent, Sec Lutnick, Sec Rubio and @jacobhelberg , @USWREMichael , Josh Gruenbaum, Watson Fagan, Ryan Baasch, Jeff Kessler, Alexei Bulazel, DepSec Landau, DepSec Dabar, Will Scharf, Taylor Budowich, @JamesBlairUSA , @elonmusk and many, many others. You know who you are and I know I’ll continue to see you a lot more. Most of all, I want to thank @aarthir on supporting everything and being part of this unexpected but amazing journey from last January. None of this would be possible without her. This journey has been the privilege of a lifetime and shown me how special this country is and how it needs all of us to contribute in anyway we can - and I plan on continuing to do just that. 🇺🇸

Shopify isn’t really SaaS. It’s a headless walled garden of APIs whose real value is the business logic, operational workflows, payments, and ecosystem embedded deep in those APIs over time. People dramatically underestimate how hard that is to recreate. You can’t just vibe code your way into replacing it.

@fnthawar @chamath I think they hate him for the SPACs he dumped on retail investors. And for *some reason* everyone has quit or been fired from his VC firm. So that's a little odd wouldn't you say?

@pmarca should start a course on learning how to talk faster. He might be the only podcaster I have to slow down instead of speed up.

Only ~12 @Shopify merchants were actually selling through it OpenAi did have a pretty strict vetting process that limited how many brands could onboard. Seems like the trend is platforms just want to avoid being the merchant of record. Handling tax / order management / product catalog management Why do you prefer UCP?

@OpenAI is scaling back @ChatGPTapp checkout. Called it. 🫠 Only ~12 @Shopify merchants were actually selling through it. No sales tax systems set up. And they wanted to charge a 4% fee ON TOP of existing payment processing. Nearly 7% in total fees. Has anyone at OpenAI ever looked at a merchant P&L? 💀 They built a chatbot and assumed commerce would just work if they bolted Stripe onto it. Product feeds, inventory sync, tax compliance, fraud prevention - none of it was ready. 🚩 Much more bullish on @Google 's UCP. Google actually understands the merchant data layer after years in Shopping and Merchant Center. UCP was built by people who've dealt with real product catalogs, not people who think "agentic commerce" is a magic word. 📈 AI product discovery is growing fast. But the website checkout isn't going anywhere. 🤷‍♂️ searchengineland.com/chatgpt-instan…

@kylebigley @icon Anndd its back. I'm curious what @shopify and @amazon Legal thinks about them using the "Shop Pay" And "Buy with Prime" buttons and then it taking you to a stripe checkout. Surely that's a cease and desist letter just waiting to happen....
