@Rachel_deSouza @educationgovuk My autistic daughter is doing brilliantly now she is out of school and home educated. School was traumatic for her. She was pushed into part time attendance by the school because they could not meet her needs. At home she has a full time, efficient education.

I want every child to be in school every day, because it’s the best place for their educational outcomes & their wellbeing. I’m pleased to see the steps announced today by @educationgovuk which aim to intervene more quickly & earlier where there is poor attendance. 1/3

It feels like it’s about personal status and career acceleration. A corporate selfish rhetoric that neglects inclusion, codes of practice and basic human kindness. Not at all how I would want to input on raising a future generation.

@drlindalouise Thank you for this thread. It explains completely why my autistic child is thriving with home education and traumatised by her experience in school.

@BooksandChokers Just finished watching #AKindOfSpark. NT child and ND child both thought "it was brilliant". I couldn't agree more...and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only parent who has actually met that teacher in real life (or a version of her at least)

Well. This is it. Tomorrow, #AKindOfSpark is on television. I don't know what to say. All feelings were drained out of me at the premiere. Just very proud of the cast. Especially our young cast. ND, LGBTQ and some of them acting for the first time. This is your time.
