@Sean_Zak Absolutely insane that the Europeans are risking not having their best player on the team at Adare Manor. Hopefully, common sense prevails soon.

NEWS from South Africa: Jon Rahm has withdrawn his appeal of DPWT sanctions. But he maintains no intention of paying fines, and is not signing a conditional release demanding additional starts. Also, he wasn't the only player to decline DPWT offer: golf.com/news/jon-rahm-…

@mrmckee By the way Bryson has been acting and playing recently, I'd be shocked if he doesn't sign a new LIV contract soon. Anyone have any idea if it's imminent?

And many of you really think Bryson DeChambeau is going to walk away from this next year to go play in Texas 5 times a year instead...... Ask guys like Messi or Ronaldo what it means to be a global brand vs just being an American brand.
Sean Zak@Sean_Zak

Have never seen a train of autographs like I just witnessed Bryson DeChambeau sign in South Africa. People ripping shirts off their backs. Shoes off their feet. Signing umbrellas, hats, backpacks, cellphone cases, balls, gloves.

@therealGFD There are facts, but I'm skeptical that this "statistic" is one of them. I don't understand why you Ponte Vedra guys hate on the PGA Championship so much either. What's the deal there?

This is what golf fans mean when we talk about wanting the announcers to just lay out. Fifty seconds of two players getting in the weeds and just talking ball. No commentary needed

NBC averaged 4.4 million viewers for the final round of @THEPLAYERS on Sunday (Cameron Young winner). That includes Nielsen big data and NBC's Total Audience Delivery. Last year's final round was at 3.6M (without big data) for Scottie Scheffler's win. Sunday is NBC's highest final round since 2021 (4.6 million for Justin Thomas)

NOTE: While Elvis Smylie (#74) & David Puig (#85) weren’t in the OWGR points in Singapore, they’ve entered the @DPWorldTour Hero Indian Open after LIV South Africa (3/26-29) in an attempt to qualify for @TheMasters last min. They’ll both likely need 2 top 3 finishes (or a 🏆).🤞🏽

@JCAGOLFReport If Rolapp fails with the PGA Tour, there is zero chance of him being Goodell's successor as NFL Commissioner. He's got a lot riding on this, hopefully for his sake, taking on the entrenched bureaucracy and unwavering stupidity/ego of PGA Tour culture won't be his downfall.

Last week Eamon Lynch wrote a Golfweek article in which he says that PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp’s patience is running thin with either the Future Competition Committee or the player-directors on the Tour’s board. Instead of writing opinion pieces from behind a TV network desk or from a laptop in a comfy sofa we did some actual journalistic work and contacted our PGA Tour HQ sources for comments about this. What we discovered with a simple source check is that what Lynch describes as Rolapp’s patience running thin is simply a bad take made without having knowledge of all the facts or simply ignoring them. Fact #1, we were told that the PGA Tour and its competition committee know exactly what they want to do. They are focused on following the plan and are not wasting any time. Fact #2, a lot of parts in their plan depend on decisions made by others and those take time. For example, the total amount of signature events in the proposed Tier 1 future schedule depends on how many sponsors of those extra 8 events they have chosen to become signature events are willing to fork the money to become one. Hence why Rolapp said the Tier 1 schedule would be anywhere from 21 to 26 events. They currently have 17 of those Tier 1 events, The Players Championship, 8 signature events, 3 playoff events, and 4 majors & the Ryder Cup which are not owned by them. They need to add at least 4 more Signature Events to get to 21 events and even more events, maybe an extra playoff event to get to 26 events. That’s a lot of money and event sponsors. They simply don’t have them lined up yet. Maybe a better take would have been why those event sponsors are not on board yet instead of Rolapp losing patience. Since the PGAT still doesn’t have a final answer from all those event sponsors or have lined up new sponsors to cover the hefty price tag of all those signature events it explains in part the 30 or so meetings the Future Competition Committee has had. Fact #3, even if they had gotten all the sponsors lined up the day Rolapp spoke to the media, he still wouldn’t tell all the details to anyone until they get feedback from the membership since this proposed new schedule is not going to be welcomed by all. The PGAT likes to make public some basic plans beforehand to see how their membership, golf media, and fans react to them. Now you understand why Rolapp referred to this plan as “a work in progress” or “nothing has been finalized,” etc. because apart from not being ready it is more complicated than Lynch thinks. Rolapp released those future PGAT plans in part to put their sponsors, media market, and membership on notice, this is our plan please get on board. Releasing the future plans now and describing them as “a work in progress” has nothing to do with Rolapp having lost patience with either the Future Competition Committee or the player-directors on the Tour’s board, they are his bosses or better said, Tiger Woods is his boss since Tiger is the Co-Chair of the PGATE board, Lead Player Director of a player majority PGAT board, Chair of the Future Competition Committee, and he was the one who chose (or accepted) Rolapp for the CEO position. By no means is Rolapp going to call him out publicly. Fact #4, it is not until the PGAT has a final amount of actual signature events that they can decide the final rules of promotion and relegation between their proposed Tier1 and Tier 2 schedules and fields. It would not make sense to announce those promotion/relegation rules now since they still don’t know how many events in the proposed Tier 1 schedule, they will end up having. Also, because the Tour doesn’t have a full picture to present to its membership and the promotion/relegation rules will be the tool used to force the top players to show up to those events the Tour doesn’t want an uprising from their membership months in advance. Like we said, not everyone on Tour will be happy with this new plan at first. Fact #5 and perhaps the most important, another issue at hand that depends on the final number of sponsors lined up for those signature events is how many of those events if any will have to be subsidized with the Tour cash coffers, what would be that amount if that were the case, and if SSG is on board with that or will they have to lower their purses, lower the amount of signature events or change their tactic altogether. Fact #6, the PGAT and PGATE financials show they need to increase revenues and/or cut expenses. The PGAT TV contract represents about 65% of their revenues and most of the rest of their revenues fall on sponsors. Rolapp said in his press conference that the PGAT needs to have a compelling product so they can have any type of success when they go to media market and sponsors, it is why they are making these changes and why this Tour “revamp” is so important for them. Before they make any final decisions and present that plan to a board vote all their ducks will need to be on a row. As we have mentioned, the problem they have is that many of those ducks (media contracts, event sponsors, SSG approval) are not controlled by them. Nothing will go to a board vote until all those ducks are in said row no matter how long it takes. Any PGAT media market negotiation that ends up with a contract similar or below to what they currently have will force the Tour to either make drastic changes (reduce events, purses, expenses, dumping DPWT, etc.) and/or having to go after PE investment once again. If only they had accepted more PE investment (PIF) in recent years and a new source of revenue (franchises) they would not be in the financial position they currently are.

@Matthew1539849 @JoshACarpenter @THEPLAYERS @SBJ @PGATOUR @NBCSports I wouldn't be surprised. Carpenter seems like a good reporter, but it also seems like he's a bit compromised by the suits at Ponte Vedra. Of course, he was also honestly reporting the awful PGA Tour ratings a couple of years ago and sponsors dropping like flies, so who knows.

@Johnjenkins309 @LIVRandONIONS Rahm seemed quite happy at Singapore last week, and if not for an uncooperative putter he could have won two weeks in a row. I'm also sure that he didn't miss dealing with all the drunk low lives at Sawgrass that the PGA Tour security can't seem to get under control these days.

@MMcEwanGolf I couldn't believe the thinly veiled taunts of an antisemitic bent directed at Berger last week. The PGA Tour really needs to get fan behavior under control before a player actually gets physically hurt by one of these drunk losers.
