Very severe should be the poster child for #mecfs, but today it’s thought of as an exception. 1 in 4 are bed-bound: this is not an exception. This is my contribution to shifting the messaging. Can’t emphasise enough how true this is. The limitations on paid work/parenting imposed by ‘mild’ (50% function loss) #MECFS are appalling. But continuing to push through causes decline to severe— no useful function, complete reliance on others & QoL that is truly, truly awful.

Another arson attack on a Jewish space. Police are investigating an arson attack on a Jewish-owned shop in Watford as religiously aggravated. A Conservative amendment to the Crime and Policing Bill, backed by the Liberal Democrats, added proscription of the IRGC to the draft legislation. The amendment passed the upper chamber by 186 votes to 144, where it was opposed by the Government, which pledged to proscribe the agency before the last general election but has since U-turned. Last night, another Jewish synagogue in London was firebombed, this time in Kenton. This is the third such attack in as many days, and also comes after the recent ambulance arson attack and a supposed drone threat against the Israeli embassy in London this week. This is now becoming a terrifying spate of daily arson attacks on the Jewish community. It betrays a cataclysmic failure of the state – politicians, police chiefs and prosecutors – to tackle antisemitic extremism in this country, which has gone largely unchecked for two and a half years. Britain is fundamentally a different country now. Still the Government refuses to proscribe Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, an obvious first step to address foreign radicalisation and interference. It is shocking if apparent concern for the sensitivities of a violent Iranian regime is more important to the Government than the welfare of Jewish people in this country.
