@campbellclaret I'm broadly in favour of assisted dying. This was a bad bill. Amendments for safeguards were summarily dismissed by proponants. Those who urged caution and care were caricatured as religious nutcases. The disabled and experts were spoken over. The Lords did their job.

The conduct of a tiny minority in the House of Lords who have used every tactic imaginable to make sure the Assisted Dying Bill fails has been awful. I have long believed the Lords is simply not fit for purpose as a second chamber. This has cemented my view hard, and I imagine will make others realise just how ludicrous our legislative systems are. Sad day.

@DVSAgovuk I'm sure you are aware that the driving test situation is awful. Just woke at 3 in order to try to get a head position in a queue. Opened at 7500th in the line at 6am. Waited 30 minutes to try to book and no luck. All tests gone. This affects work opportunities.

@brightonargus I think we should all be upset about these HMOs. Out of curiosity I looked at the plans. No adequate living space or any proper provision for laundry for 8 people (strangers). No objection to shared housing but this is pure greed.

Change in Nightjet policy: Sleepers have always been single-gender unless you book all berths in a compartment. From this year, Nightjet sleeper compartments are treated the same as couchettes, mixed-gender with an option for women to book a bed in a ladies-only compartment.

Very much overlooked in historical media about the movement, Occupy Wall Street imploded after women including myself went on strike (ceasing major activities like our organizing meetings, kitchen, jail support) due to male chauvinism

A lot of the movements of the early New Left treated women in their movements like sexual playthings rather than full partners. It took a long time for feminists to change this. Someone like Cesar Chavez was going to get away with whatever he wanted.

It took us 15 months to get a driving test spot after my son passed his theory. He failed on one (very questionable) thing with no minors. We are now back at the beginning trying to get a re sit before his theory expires. He can drive. This can't be right.

An Israeli mate tonight suggested I should have said yes to appearing on Piers Morgan, but here’s my thinking. He’s platformed and failed to challenge too many horrific antisemites. Whilst I take almost nothing seriously, I do take opposing antisemitism seriously. I feel like I’d be complicit if I dignified his show by participating. Plus, I was serving when he published the faked Iraq abuse photos and I take that personally. His show is just a modern Jerry Springer with idiots arguing to get the best clickbait viral clip. Whilst it would have been great for follows and clicks, it would have felt like a violation of my integrity. Self respect has no price.

@SwichLabs @Mr_Andrew_Fox @piersmorgan If he did what I assume you are suggesting, do every job as well as presenting, he would be a) castigated as a control freak and b) be able to produce roughly one show a year - these things take huge teams. Each member of the team has a role - he is the presenter.
