@PermalostLT @ndkirschmann I’ve lived in every one of those states and can tell you definitively that Walz is a positive. He gives you all the good neighbor/dad vibes. He is extremely normal and approachable and that is what sticks with people.

As an upper midwesterner I can assure you: Tim Walz isn’t a selling point. The vast majority of the derision he has gotten isn’t because he’s a midwesterner (many moons ago I was going into the army with midwestern accent, no one ever treated me poorly because of that, nor in any academic setting I found myself in). Yeah, we like the kind of person you describe. We also don’t like serial liars. It speaks to credibility. To actually showing up to help you shovel, or change a tire, or bring the damn thing he said he would. That kind of person will be an acquaintance that you’ll exchange pleasantries with, but never a friend. And he keeps doing it too. Hes the kind of guy who when he commits to something you go “okay” and kind of work out a mental contingency for when he doesn’t do it how to make things work anyway. You want to be “team midwestern dude” you better be a man of your word, Tim has showed time and time and time again he isn’t, so nope. And I’ve met more midwestern guys who dislike him for that than like him for the rest of his behaviors.

The fact that even small instances are caught and resolved before the final count means the system works.
