@nickstam05 I had the exact same issue for the first time ever with Claude this week and after 6 months of Max 20x with no limit issues. Something is definitely off or changed. And my extra usage $ gets deducted without showing notifications. No transparency: can't even see why or when.

Spike in usage could be a cost covering strategy by Anthropic. Ok, I love Claude, don't get me wrong. But the lack of visibility on how Anthropic rates and limits work on Claude subscriptions really confuses me and annoys me. I always monitor my usage to always get a full picture and understand how my Claude Code setup performs, if MCP servers and skills I've loaded consume a lot of context etc. This week, starting from Monday, I experienced an extraordinary spike in usage while following the same workflows and patterns as always. A few minutes ago, it was the first time I hit my limit ever after subscribing to Max plan (it's been around 4 months now). I've heard a lot of other people experiencing the same. I'm pretty sure it all has to do with the new "Extra Usage" feature added to Claude this week. They've provided a substantial amount of free one-time Extra Usage credits this week to users and I believe that this change in usage has been set to somehow cover their costs for these "gifts". It could also be a marketing effort to promote their new "Extra Usage" flow. Nevertheless, I'm really hoping that after these one-time credit gifts expire, things might get back to normal. Truth is expiration for most users will happen in around 3 months time (90 days expiration after claim) which is a long time to wait for things to get better. I could be wrong on this, could just be a coincidence and this might be the new reality from now on.

I've been running the same session in Claude Code for about 48 hours now without any compaction and it felt amazing.. until I looked at my usage limits. The 1 million context truly provides a completely different experience on the product. Normally, with the older context limits, conversation would have been compacted at least 4-5 times. But I'm wondering whether it completely destroys token efficiency. It seems it does. Good thing you can still manually trigger compaction whenever you want. So I guess from now on it's on us to actively choosing best time to compact in order to manage limits more carefully.

One of the clearest examples of MCP done right: @paper Their canvas is built on real HTML and CSS. Agents read and write directly while humans steer. A CLI can't do this. It fires, exits, and has no concept of a live shared surface with two users on it simultaneously. This is exactly what MCP was built for, not thin API wrappers, but stateful, bidirectional systems where the protocol is the product. Wrote about this and the broader MCP vs CLI debate 👇 x.com/nickstam05/sta…

@socoloffalex I honestly believe UI/UX design would be the last thing to “die” and be replaced from AI. It’s surely one of the biggest limitations of AI right now.

Can someone please explain me why everyone is so obsessed with ripping designers, like AI can do a lot of other things (poorly but can) Leave us a lone and go find some better things to do, touch some grass or go fuck yourself for example.

@morganlinton @denisyarats Moving away from MCPs because you built bad ones isn't a protocol problem. The teams getting value aren't wrapping entire APIs they're building thin, focused tools that do one thing well.

The cofounder and CTO of Perplexity, @denisyarats just said internally at Perplexity they’re moving away from MCPs and instead using APIs and CLIs 👀

@morganlinton @denisyarats I mostly believe mcps are the future. It’s just that most of the apps have built their mcp servers and tools badly. Pure mcp apps that are built from the ground up with mcp flows in mind will be clear winners.

@samuelrdt Well, I’ve built really complex things as far as I believe. Never felt messy or that something is limited. The opposite. But that’s just me and my definition of “complex”. I don’t doubt you might feel this way!

@nickstam05 It works fine for basic stuff, but as soon as you need something more complex it's a mess

@MatthewBerman well it has stopped being about the product. It's all about brand, contracts and users now.
