I've just got a panicked message from a dear friend who's been served an eviction notice by their landlord. He wants to sell. They have three children, always paid rent on time. They even offered to pay more rent as they love the property, + never had issues with the landlord, but he's not interested. He told them to go to their MP (she's Labour) This is a disaster. Are local authorities ready for what is coming as a result of this?

Councillor apologises after asking council call handler to speak English as critics agree with her Eastbourne Borough Councillor Elaine Hamilton, in her 60s, called the council helpdesk and struggled to understand the operator. She politely said “I’m sorry but I can’t understand you, can I speak to someone who can speak English please?” The comment triggered a backlash with some social media users branding her racist. Hamilton has now issued a statement apologising and saying she regretted any offence caused. Critics including local residents and fellow councillors have agreed with her, arguing English should be the language used for all council services so ratepayers can be properly understood.

Surrey Police are looking for these two men in connection with the public disorder in Epsom on Weds 15th April.

A horse and a chicken were walking down a country road when they saw some corn in a ditch just across the road. The horse walked over to eat the corn but before he got to the corn he got stuck in the mud and couldn’t get out so he said to the chicken, “Hey, go over to that farmhouse and get some help to get me out of this mud.” When the chicken got to the farmhouse he couldn’t find anyone to help him get the horse out of the mud. However, he noticed a Mercedes parked in the driveway and the keys were in the ignition. The chicken drove the Mercedes back down the road, tied a rope to the Mercedes and threw the other end to the horse. The horse was out of the mud in a jiffy. The two proceeded down the road and saw more corn on the side of the road. This time the chicken crossed over a ditch to get the corn. As luck would have it the chicken got stuck in the mud this time. "Hey, go get that Mercedes and pull me out of this mud,” said the chicken. “I think I can straddle this ditch because it’s not too wide and when I do just grab my dick and I'll pull you of the mud,” replied the horse – and lo and behold his idea worked and the chicken was pulled out of the mud. The moral of the story: When you’re hung like a horse you don’t need a Mercedes to pick up chicks.

Just finished lunch and my wife asked me what I want to do today. I told her I need to "monitor a system upgrade" and I'll probably be tied up for a few hours. There is no system upgrade. But now I have the afternoon to myself. I'm going to sit in my home office, close the door, and play video games with my headset on. If anyone knocks, I'll take off the headset, look slightly annoyed, and say, "Everything okay? I'm in the middle of something." My wife has learned that when I'm "working," I shouldn't be disturbed. My kids know that a closed door means Dad's "in a meeting." Do I feel bad about this? Not even a little. I spent all week dealing with people's problems. I spent Monday through Friday being "available" and "collaborative" and "a team player." Saturday is mine. The home office isn't just a place to work remotely. It's a fortress. And "system monitoring" is the drawbridge that keeps everyone out. Work-life balance isn't about working less. It's about making people think you're working when you're not.

@R_Whiskey @darcydeardarcy @it_unprofession Raise her own kids, as in not from your loins? Why were you not caring for you 'own' mother while she was careing for her 'own' kids? 🤔 Who done the housework and shopping? Who delt with outside activity issues? Or did they not socialise?

@nicole2216 @darcydeardarcy @it_unprofession Worked 60-70 hours per week, had a side job to ensure we had enough income to afford her doing what *she* wanted to do (raise her own kids), and basically extracted myself from all other personal desires so we could raise our family.

@nicole2216 @darcydeardarcy @it_unprofession My wife homeschooled 2 kids and helped her dad and my mom, AND made time for quiet time. Don't make this all about the male and don't play the victim.
