A major city in Colombia cooled itself by 2°C simply by planting millions of trees and shrubs—demonstrating that nature provides one of the most effective cooling solutions available. Medellín has turned its urban environment into a cooler, more livable space through its innovative Green Corridors project, launched in 2016. The initiative planted nearly 880,000 trees and 2.5 million smaller plants along busy roads and waterways, replacing heat-trapping concrete with lush vegetation. This created an extensive network of interconnected green zones that function like natural cooling systems, reducing the city's average temperature by more than 2°C. Beyond cooling, the project delivers wide-ranging benefits: it purifies the air, boosts urban biodiversity by welcoming back wildlife, and fosters a healthier atmosphere through shade and evapotranspiration—the natural process by which plants release water vapor. Honored with the 2019 Ashden Award for Cooling by Nature, Medellín's approach has become an inspiring model for cities worldwide seeking sustainable ways to adapt to rising temperatures and combat climate change.

@arungiri What’s the point of losing the support of 39 Lok Sabha MPs at a time when they are crucial to stop the ruling party from passing anti people bills?

What exactly is Cong waiting for to declare support to TVK? Unless INC finds way to reinvent itself, they ll find themselves in these precarious situations again & again... When AAP performed spectacularly in 2013, Mr. Rahul Gandhi said " we will shake up the party.." Hasnt happened

Maharashtra, In the name of city beautification, they destroyed the life of a specially abled woman. While the big fish swim free in illegal mansions, the administration celebrates its 'victory' over a few broken pots and a shattered dream.

Ramzan... We Salute You In the Bargi Dam tragedy in Jabalpur, "Ramzan" saved the lives of four people. Construction work was underway just a short distance from the spot at the Bargi Dam where the cruise accident occurred. Laborers engaged in the bridge construction project witnessed the cruise boat sinking. At that very moment, Ramzan who was present at the scene leapt into the water to save lives, disregarding his own safety and without the aid of any equipment or resources. Ramzan pulled six people out of the water, of these, four were alive, while two had already perished.

Few days ago these same IT cell mazdoors were saying that Indian Ocean doesn’t mean it belongs to India on the issue of Iranian naval ship sinking by USA. Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai!

The Great Nicobar Project should have been done decades ago. India has underutilised its maritime potential and neglected the blessings of geography We have an Ocean named after us. If we don't claim it, someone else will @mitraphoenix writes opindia.com/2026/05/great-…

Himachal govt installs a charging point in Manali for tourists to charge phones and gadgets, and within hours people turn it into a dustbin. No Swachh Bharat or any scheme can fix this nation, only an iron fist policy can bring change.

15-day fast-track for tree felling = fast-track for heat, pollution & loss of public commons.
We’re cutting full-grown trees for events while calling it “ease of doing business.” It’s high time, we stop treating trees as obstacles. They’re actually survival infrastructure.

NITI Aayog has warned that by 2030, groundwater in 21 cities, including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, could reach zero. And clowns want E20. 1L Ethanol requires 10,000 L water. If you fill E20 petrol worth 550 RS, then you are using up 10,000 L of water! How will we survive?

Forests in Great Nicobar are not empty land. They are home to people, culture, and life. Destroying them is not progress. It is an irreversible loss. The Great Nicobar Project is not development. It is displacement. All to benefit one man: ADANI. When profit leads, people and forests pay.

This is important @ECISVEEP must upload form 17C on the website. IMMEDIATELY! So that citizens of India can verify and cross check the voting numbers in West Bengal election. PS - BJD is still fighting to get 17C numbers of 2024 Loksabha.
Anjali Bhardwaj@AnjaliB_

The ECI must IMMEDIATELY upload Form 17C (the only statutory proof of voter turnout) for each polling booth where elections took place in West Bengal today. Commission must declare how many tokens were distributed at 6pm for voters standing in queue at each booth. That’s the minimum level of transparency expected in such a fraught election.

Forced transfers in PSBs are nothing but institutional harassment. Thousands of employees are uprooted every year not because the system needs it, but because the system refuses to change. If transfers are made ONLY on request, PSB’s can save thousands of crore annually. That’s public money. That’s efficiency. That’s humanity. But instead, banks choose: • Mental stress over productivity • Family disruption over stability • Blind policy over practical reform Why should an employee be punished for years of service ? Why can’t technology, digital banking & AI eliminate the need for mass transfers ? This is not administration, this is outdated control. It’s time the Government steps in. 👉 Amend transfer policies 👉 Make transfers need-based or voluntary 👉 Protect employees & their families Bankers are not machines. They have lives beyond balance sheets. @DFS_India @nsitharaman @FinMinIndia @LabourMinistry @CVCIndia @RBI @narendramodi #StopForcedTransfers #BankersLivesMatter #ReformBanking #PSBBanking #HumanizeWorkplace #BankingReforms #India #PublicSectorBanks #EmployeeRights #WorkLifeBalance
