"Do you know how long it takes to get to Checkpost", whine the residents of tony neighbourhoods, hoping their momentary discomfort justifies constructing a flyover that encroaches on the EZ of a national park. These photographs show that flyovers don't fix the problem either.

Amsterdam, Seoul, Bogotá, Singapore & Zurich stopped endlessly building roads for cars. They started building cities for people — and traffic moved better. Maybe they should construct a flyover to bypass this congestion? That's what people in India want if they are forced to sit in the air conditioned cars for ten minutes more than anticipated.

@chand2308 We are fighting a battle where people seem to think sacrificing the ecosensitive zone of a national park is worth it if they shave a few minutes off their commute. And there are alternate routes available which they choose not to want to explore

These photos were clicked by ordinary citizens of #Hyderabad during their everyday commute. Flyovers were sold to them as solutions to traffic and promises of a “livable city”. Instead, they got endless bottlenecks, longer commutes and more concrete. And now the same failed model threatens Hyderabad’s last green lung — KBR Park. 🌳 #SaveKBR
