The first of two rounds of significant T'Storm activity arrives later this PM as a warm front combined with unstable air becomes the focus for SEVERE weather over southern MN, western WI & much of Iowa. Localized heavy RAINS are also likely. Here is the area of greatest concern.

The 00z HRRR just printed a potent QLCS nailing the Twin Cities at around 11pm. The timing is still uncertain but the likelihood of widespread damaging winds (70+mph), large hail, and a few tornadoes, especially SW of the Metro. Likely will be upgraded to enhanced risk. #mnwx

Here's one possibility for how tomorrow night might look in the Twin Cities. The daytime showers could throw a wrench in the forecast so will have to watch that.

People outside the weather enterprise generally aren’t willing to sacrifice time they could have had productively spent at work/school or at a planned event, to protect from a weather threat that appears to have not materialized.

Genuine question, is this the worst PDS watch ever issued?

@ben_williams_wx It has to be up there, the moment it was issued every chaser and meteorologist I talk to on a regular basis was confused.

Latest MPX (Twin Cities) radar shows a line of strong to SEVERE T'Storms over MN/IA. This line of storms are slowly moving east & will affect the I-35 corridor between 5pm - 9pm. A SEVERE T'Storm Watch is in effect for much of our region.

Updated mesoscale models favor strongest storms developing mainly south of MSP late PM. One trend to watch, a few models suggest an isolated tornadic supercell along I-90 in SW Minnesota late afternoon. Favorable tornadic environment possible near triple point. #mnwx

Likely going to be sitting out in western Mn this evening. Rich sfc vorticity should be present near the boundaries along with high lapse rates near 8 and lots of cape should hopefully get it done before it goes fully linear. #Mnwx #Mn

You may have noticed a down trend in the amount of posts i have been doing the last few weeks/months. This trend has not been intentional. Recently, my confidence levels in my own personal forecasting and my statements i have been posting online content has decreased. I'm not 100% sure of any exact cause but i do feel my social anxiety has been starting to leak into my online postings as it never did previously. I don't know any exact cause or how to help my self get out of this cycle tbh. I really do wanna post my thoughts and predictions on what i feel may happen in coming days or personal opinions but my fears of having a incorrect, not making sense or stupid opinions and facing embarrassment keep getting the best of me. I will try and post more but i just need some confidence boosts and for progression of my social anxiety to stop and/or slow down before anything noticeable occurs.

Another threat of some scattered severe thunderstorms today with the main threats being large hail and damaging winds, but we cannot rule out an isolated tornado. It will not be as significant as last night, but still some possible discrete cells popping up over the cities, and I can see some towers going up right now to my West. Heads up if you’re trying to actually do stuff outdoors. 😅

@nwsfollower_mn All good we all need to learn at some point. Weat metro definitely has a chance of seeing a tornado. Farther south is less certain just depends where storms fire but it should be around that area. Main key is if clouds can break some before the front passes

@Nick_LaLonde15 Thx. New to this. So if I’m hearing you right, we could expect or should be warned of tornadoes in west metro? I look at weather forecast and don’t see much. Is that bc it is uncertain and the models haven’t fired yet?
