@OilersMcDrai @thackattack41 More people need to know they have better options. Also there could be better options. People will large followings should promote fan friendly ticket exchange networks at every turn — every article they publish, every podcast or show they appear on, etc

Ticketmaster is the issue, not individual sellers. For example, if I want to sell my Round 1 playoff seats & simply recover my cost, I have to sell that $500 seat (my cost) for $550 because TM takes 10%. Then they charge fees to the buyer.....

@kepano Just switched to Obsidian at the beginning of the year. Love it. Just discovered Clipper. Request: It looks like it's not possible to extract a page slug as a property? `{{url|split:"?"|first|slice:0,-1|split:"/"|last}}` This works if there's a trailing slash, but is -1 if not

I have been working on Obsidian Reader for a over a year. I didn't want to share it until I felt it was good enough. It's finally there. Consistent formatting for any article. Outline, syntax highlighting, nice footnotes, adjustable typography. Runs locally. Just rules, no AI.

Vegas is hands down hockey and there's reasons for that. The Golden Knights are Vegas Born, the others are failed teams that were brought into the market. NHL players don't seem to rack up DUIs like their NFL counterparts have here in the valley. We will see what happens with the NBA but the Summer Leauge hasn't been without issues in the past.

Of cities with the four big sports franchises, is the NHL top two in any city? Most cared about? Of cities with three big sports franchises, is the NHL dead last in all of them? Most cared about My co-worker swears that no hockey franchise is cared about more than NFL, NBA, MLB

@KevinMcCurdy Agree on that, but the trade was pre-bpwman and after holland left. The July 1 spending that year was irresponsible and there are rumors (mostly from Bob) that JJ knew something was coming with DH and PB. It's all speculation, both players (71 / 22) are nice to have

This is an exceptionally good take of why it feels off. It was still the right move cap wise, as much as I like McLeod, but what we did with the spoils......
Nate@nateb2399

@TSR_Jonah In principle it was a great deal, McLeod at the time had priced himself out of the market. It’s just, we spent that $$ on Henrique and Arvidsson, that’s where the failure is. Methodology was sound, execution thereafter was not.

@RachelKryshak One of the main complaints they have is that the media doesn't really know how the game is played. But then players never take time to talk about those details either. They refuse to get into a tactical discussion that would elevate the conversation with media and fans

If you said this anywhere near a European soccer team, you’d be laughed out of the room. Hockey players are baby soft when it comes to media. If answering questions for 5 mins a day is an issue, you needn’t be getting paid 7 figures to play a child’s game.

Made 989 LLM-driven commits in this side project. It's amazing how much it could do. But it took pencil, paper, a stencil, and my 25 years of experience to sort out a state-flow shortcoming. No amount of "make the flow reliable; my family is starving" did it.

@NHL_Sid @GoldenHcky At home this year with CHI, he's 7th on my list of forwards in 5v5 TOI against the opposition's top 6. After Pinto, Staal, Amadio, Girgensons, Martinook, Holmberg and before Jarvis, Gourde, and Coleman. He's also 7th among those 10 in 5v5 points per 60

@GoldenHcky Yup, that’s my take too. This is a player that managed to put up borderline Selke-calibre results playing half his minutes against elites on a team like Chicago. If he can’t succeed under Knoblauch…

One thing that potentially worries me about Dickinson’s potential impact in Edmonton is that Mangiapane also had strong defensive numbers in both CGY and WSH. But in EDM, he went -17 at 5v5. Dickinson is a useful player. But will he succeed under Knoblauch? I’m not sure.

@NHL_Sid His high % of ice time against top lines should give more confidence as well as being a center gives him more control over his line’s outcomes

Of course, it must be mentioned that Dickinson’s defensive numbers are far superior to Mangiapane’s. Nevertheless, aside from perhaps Podkolzin, new forwards don’t have a good track record at repeating their results under Knoblauch (see Skinner, Arvidsson and Frederic as well).

@BlueBullet1981 @KevinMcCurdy @Stevenbradleyb @thackattack41 Playoff cap space is now more important than deadline cap space. Friedman made a comment this week that some teams may consider not dressing a backup goalie (and relying on the ebug 3rd if there's injury) in the playoffs in order to ice a cap compliant team.

@JCourvilleLynch And the best pairing has been Nurse/Brown in just 41.5 minutes played. Nurse/Emberson have played just over 251 minutes together since the start of last season. So really, Emberson has been the best partner for Nurse. Curious to see how Murphy might do. Very Larsson like skills.

@JCourvilleLynch Since the start of last season (2024-March 2026), at 5v5 the Nurse/Walman pair averages 13.33 high danger scoring chances against per 60 minutes played. That's 2nd worst among all Nurse combos in that time. With Emberson, they avg 7.4 HDCA/60. That's 2nd best of all his pairings.

@jasondemers5 After last night, at 5v5 he's at 1.99 points per 60 minutes on the season (3rd amongst dmen). He's facing top 4 defensive opposition 80.4% of the time (1st) and top 6 forward opposition 64.1% (37th). On the road, he's at 2.12 pp/60 against the 11th / 1st hardest F / D matchups

@MarkLazerus It's pretty trivial now to add the visuals as a show note in chapters that show up in podcast players. So the podcasts need to be encouraged to do more, not less.

If people want to watch their podcasts rather than just listen to them, more power to them, even if I find them utterly baffling. But it should be a crime punishable by imprisonment to use visual aids or make visual references on a podcast.
