With Mantha signed, I’m all in on Tarasenko to Edmonton. Get him on a cheap deal and he can play Top 6 minutes until the deadline where we acquire a real forward and he shifts to the 3rd line. He was on pace for 50 points last year and can score #LetsGoOilers

@BlueBullet1981 After, Levi and Andersen, they have 4 other goalies under contract who could easily serve as backup for a game to get through an illness situation. If Jarry isn't the starter, there's no reason he needs to dress if the other two are healthy options.

Using PuckGM, adding a 3M UFA, waiving Janmark, and trading Stastney leave the Oilers with 3.5M in cap space and 6.8M in playoff cap space. This means that at the deadline, if you moved, for example, Emberson and Joseph, the Oilers could add a F and a D worth 9M in combined AAV.

If the Oilers vets are indeed committed to playing off the puck, it shouldn't be a problem to give Howard some time in the top six to begin the season. If it doesn't work, then you look to your list of teams with poor playoff outlooks who also have wingers available with term

@oiler @dstaples Great, the actual matchups were favourable. That's not their fault but doesnt change it. Regular season numbers against the league, doesn't tell us how a series will go. I'd argue Ottawa was their toughest matchup & Vegas didn't have a lot left. Canes 100% deserved to win

@Oil_Drop @dstaples Here are the regular season rankings in 5v5 xGF% for each of their opponents: OTT - 3rd, 55.6% PHI - 7th, 52.24% MTL - 20, 49.6% VGK - 4th, 54.39% CAR was 2nd, behind COL, at 56.4% They won the Cup. Their dominance shows how good they were, not how "easy" their path was.

@dstaples I get everyone wants to give Carolina their flowers for being this consistent club year in & year out. Fair enough. I can't remember a recent club with an easier path to a Stanley Cup. It's not on them as you play who's infront of you but all the matchups were rather favourable.

Love the depth, but you can only carry 7, and I count 8 D. So, feel like im waiting on something to happen here. Especially when you intentionally plan to carry 3 goalies.

@AzorcanGlobal The other reason I wouldn't be surprised they carry 8 defensemen to start the season - look at how many waivers exempt forwards they have. Tons of options there. But on D, not many. So when they need a guy to step in, especially now that they are playing 84 games, they have it.

@AzorcanGlobal I think they will be load managing Ekholm during the regular season, thats why they have 5 left shot guys. Also, Joseph is a lock to make the roster. DJ Smith knows and loves him. Joseph & Dickenson will be 3rd line and 1st line PK. So my guess is this is the starting roster.

@VanLathan A English League team will be the easiest entry point. First decide if you want a London area team or not. If not, find a town that best matches your values and go for them. Consider anyone in Premiere or in top half of the Champ league. Make sure to learn who owns the club too.

@oiler The management knew the rule perfectly. A fan read incorrect information on Wikipedia (which I corrected when I found it), and then spread the misinformation on Twitter. 80 games played never had anything to do with Group 2 RFA. It's been the same for several decades now.

@oiler @McBilly_Son @PuckPedia To be eligible to be Group 2 RFA, you need enough pro season. Broberg and Gauthier needed 3 pro seasons. One of them played 10 professional games in each of their 3 seasons while the other didn’t do it. Broberg was a Group 2 RFA, Gauthier is a 10,2(c)

@McBilly_Son @PuckPedia Actually, those rules determine the offer must be a one way deal. 80 games is the threshold for games played in first 3 seasons. I can't find a link to it, but its a number Oilers fans know well because they let Broberg play in those meaningless late season games to get over 80
