OTUKPO KIDNAPPING: POLICE RESCUE ALL ABDUCTED BENUE LINKS PASSENGERS, INCLUDING STUDENTS, ARREST SUSPECTS The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a major operational breakthrough with the rescue of all victims abducted in the Otukpo kidnapping incident involving passengers of a Benue Links bus on 15 April 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Benue State Police Command launched coordinated clearance operations across the Amla Forest corridor and adjoining areas. These efforts led to the safe recovery of the remaining 13 victims, including eight students en route to Otukpo for their UTME examinations. In total, all 18 passengers have now been accounted for. Each rescued individual has undergone medical evaluation, is in stable condition, and will be reunited with their families after debriefing. In the course of the operation, seven suspects were arrested, three of whom have been positively identified as members of the kidnapping syndicate. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional accomplices and dismantle the wider criminal network behind the attack. The suspects are in custody and are being interrogated in accordance with the law. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, commended the professionalism, resilience, and gallantry displayed by the officers and men of the Benue State Command. He has directed the intensification of clearance operations within the Otukpo axis to ensure communities remain safe and secure. The IGP reassures Nigerians of the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property nationwide. He affirms that ongoing operations will be sustained to strengthen security and restore public confidence, while urging citizens to support the Police with timely and credible information to enhance collective safety. POLICE REFORMS: IGP DISU RESTRUCTURES MONITORING UNIT, APPOINTS DCP ALIYU ABUBAKAR AS HEAD OF THE UNIT The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has approved the comprehensive restructuring of the Police Monitoring Unit as part of ongoing institutional reforms aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness, strengthening internal oversight, and reinforcing discipline across the Nigeria Police Force. The restructuring is necessitated by the need to refocus the Unit on its core mandate, address identified operational inefficiencies, and reposition it as a credible and effective internal accountability mechanism within the Force. As part of the reorganisation, the Unit has been streamlined and strengthened to enhance proactive monitoring, intelligence-driven inspections, and real-time oversight of police personnel and operations across Commands, Formations, and Departments. The restructured framework also harmonises key investigative and monitoring functions in line with the Force’s reform agenda. Consequently, the Inspector-General of Police has approved a leadership transition within the Unit, with Deputy Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar appointed as Head of the Police Monitoring Team to oversee the operations of the restructured Unit. Prior to his appointment, he served as Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), in both the FCT and Rivers State Police Commands, where he played critical roles in high-profile investigations. During this period, he worked closely with state leadership to modernize investigative techniques and strengthen operational effectiveness. He is widely regarded by peers and stakeholders as a community-oriented and professional officer, noted for promoting transparency and engagement in policing. The IGP emphasized that the reform is geared towards entrenching professionalism, discipline, and transparency within the Force, noting that the Monitoring Unit will play a central role in identifying operational lapses, enforcing standards, and ensuring accountability at all levels. The Nigeria Police Force reiterates its commitment to sustained reforms, institutional development , and the delivery of a more accountable, professional, and citizen-focused policing system. This was where Vice President Shettima and APC Governors were enjoying a banquet, while Brigadier General, Oseni Omoh Braimah and the other soldiers killed by Boko Haram terrorists, were buried. None deemed it necessary to attend the burial, in the same city, Maiduguri!✍️

The Nigeria Police have arrested seven suspects in connection with the kidnapping of 13 people, including eight UTME candidates, in Benue State.

My youngest sister has been kidnapped 💔! She was kidnapped on Monday, 13 April 2026, on her way to Abuja to report for duties from Ogun State. We have not gotten precise information about where the incident happened. She reached us briefly around 12.am Wednesday, 15 April 2026, that she has been kidnapped since on Monday without details of who kidnapped her, why, and where she is before the phone was taken from her. Now, they have been calling me until this moment demanding N100 million naira. Where do I raise 100 million naira? I can't even raise 100 thousand naira. They are calling me with registered numbers. Our preliminary findings have it that this happened in Kabba, Kogi State, Nigeria. I have been to three different police stations. One in Lagos and the two at Mowe and Redeemed Police stations. The police stations have no tracking system and that since there is no information about location, police said they can't work. I called police national PPRO. He said I should go and report it at the nearest police station after I had already reported. While trying to explain further, he ended the call and did not pick up my calls again until now. She remains in the harsh and harrowing den of the kidnappers until now. I do not want to lose my sister. She is a very young girl who is just starting life. Please rescue her alive, safely, and complete. @PoliceNG @HQNigerianArmy @PoliceNG_CRU @TunjiDisu1 @aleeygiwa @CspIniedu @NigAirForce @KogiPoliceNG @OfficialDSSNG @NuhuRibadu @officialABAT @aonanuga1956 @atiku @Brightgoldenboy @PeterObi @NGRPresident @NigeriaGov @BTOofficial @BolajiADC @davido @wizkidayo @DONJAZZY
