I'm back in Afghanistan where 22 million need humanitarian aid and to where Pakistan has sent back 800.000 and Iran plans to deport 2 million. Here in Herat I met women who had been deported without their husbands back to deep poverty & hopelessness. A crisis ignored by the world

Three years ago, Kabul fell to TB. Since then, 80 edicts hv stripped Afghan women & girls of their rights. Its been 1064 days since girls were banned frm secondary school & 604 days since women wre barred frm universities. Their fight for basic rights continues. #GenderApartheid

This cruel act by Pakistan not only highlights their inhumane policies but also leaves countless innocent lives in turmoil. The consequences on the lives of these refugees especially for women and children are dire, we must stand for compassion & dignity.

Thousands of poor & exhausted Afghans are crossing the border each day from Pakistan as deportation deadline looms. After decades of conflict & an economic crisis, Afghanistan will struggle to absorb returning families. All returns should be voluntary, safe, and sustainable.
