The Labour Government has decided to defund rural communities. Here in Cumbria, the Government is cutting its funding for Westmorland and Furness Council by nearly a third. This is an attack on every single one of our communities and the services we all rely on.

Scotland produces huge amounts of renewable energy, but the UK's broken energy system means people's bills are through the roof. Scotland's energy should work for the benefit of people, not Westminster. On May 7th, vote SNP for the fresh start of independence, with lower bills.

A cheap and simple way of producing UK electricity is via solar panels. Particularly on commercial buildings as well as private dwellings. I don't know about you but I don't see many solar panels. The government need to subsidise mass production & installation. Now.

@Milkushaku @nubnutts @adamndsmith @ZackPolanski You've also got the interesting definition of who is wealthy. We need to get rid of 40% tax at 50k when 50k is not the large amount it used to be. If we can catch up with cost so many more people will be impacted.

Taxes need to be solid and that works on scale. You can't just say wealth tax to everything and think it is the answer to all.

@HarrietLamb_ Everything based on wealth taxes. That is not a valid answer to every single policy you want to follow. You need to work on a proper basis of income on solid things.

@PeterPrinsley It is an obligation. They have to do it. For some reason doing it well wasn't part of the deal. Of course the government could just take it on and start their own mail infrastructure and run it as a government service. What would the cost of creating that be?

Speaking in Westminster Hall on Royal Mail - the postal service in this country must remain an obligation, not an option. Residents in rural areas, including Thurston, have raised real concerns about ad hoc deliveries and unreliable service. It’s time this was taken seriously.

If you meet the criteria you can get solar panels entirely for free via that government push. It can either be income related, or if on certain benefits, or just based on your post code

Level of tuition fees were frozen from 2017 to 2024 when the Government then increased them. Today it’s increasing them for next 2 years & is using RPIX not CPI. Increasing tuition fee burden on students is wrong & associating Labour with this is a huge political mistake.
