@timfarron Because it's moving to new councils being responsible for their own future. You want more money you create it yourself.

The Labour Government has decided to defund rural communities. Here in Cumbria, the Government is cutting its funding for Westmorland and Furness Council by nearly a third. This is an attack on every single one of our communities and the services we all rely on.

@ZackPolanski Thats 1 in 6 so 5/6 are not. And an ex-council house is still someones private property. It could have changed hands multiple times. Want more council housing? Build it. Build a LOT. Just see how popular that idea is.

One in six private renters is now renting a former council home, often at extortionate rates – and often partly paid for by the government in the form of housing benefit. It's not just deeply unfair - it economically doesn't make any sense. standard.co.uk/news/politics/…

@JohnSwinney So all wind farms and solar farms are owned by the UK or Scottish government then are they? Or are they owned by private business?

Scotland produces huge amounts of renewable energy, but the UK's broken energy system means people's bills are through the roof. Scotland's energy should work for the benefit of people, not Westminster. On May 7th, vote SNP for the fresh start of independence, with lower bills.

@labourlewis @WindrushWasp And people need to realise nationalising something doesn't solve the problems inherent in these issues and certainly doesn't make it cheaper for the consumer!

The Government needs to realise more regulation won’t fix our broken water system. We need to kick financial predators out & take it back into public control. But don’t just take it from me. Listen to a sewage campaigner who inspired Channel 4’s ‘Dirty Business’. @WindrushWasp

@UniteSharon @RidgeandFrost 40% is just taking the piss. How much has this strike cost the union to be paying strike pay for a YEAR? Whatever happened to the legal case you said you had?

A cheap and simple way of producing UK electricity is via solar panels. Particularly on commercial buildings as well as private dwellings. I don't know about you but I don't see many solar panels. The government need to subsidise mass production & installation. Now.

@Oxford_Life @isthatyourdonk1 @mac123_m @irisstylosa @mtpennycook Sorry but having a household income limit of £36,000 to get the help knocks out a huge number of people. You'd think it would just be available to everyone if they were serious. But then we know they are not as they don't have the same policies as Wales ;)

@Milkushaku @nubnutts @adamndsmith @ZackPolanski You've also got the interesting definition of who is wealthy. We need to get rid of 40% tax at 50k when 50k is not the large amount it used to be. If we can catch up with cost so many more people will be impacted.

@Milkushaku @nubnutts @adamndsmith @ZackPolanski The wealthy already pay the majority of taxes . I'm not someone saying they will all leave but already we are losing these people under Labour. Taxes need to be solid and that works on scale. You can't just say wealth tax to everything and think it is the answer to all.

> more support for households > tightening windfall tax on energy companies > rent controls > re-nationalising water > decoupling electricity prices from the cost of gas > change the tax system This is the @ZackPolanski platform and it’s hard to argue it isn’t what this country desperately needs

@HarrietLamb_ Everything based on wealth taxes. That is not a valid answer to every single policy you want to follow. You need to work on a proper basis of income on solid things.

Zack lays out how the Green Party will end rip-off Britain - wth rent controls, with nationalising water & ending privatisatio premium, with cutting energy bills, with wealth taxes including bringing capital gains tax into line with income tax.

@PeterPrinsley It is an obligation. They have to do it. For some reason doing it well wasn't part of the deal. Of course the government could just take it on and start their own mail infrastructure and run it as a government service. What would the cost of creating that be?

Speaking in Westminster Hall on Royal Mail - the postal service in this country must remain an obligation, not an option. Residents in rural areas, including Thurston, have raised real concerns about ad hoc deliveries and unreliable service. It’s time this was taken seriously.

Level of tuition fees were frozen from 2017 to 2024 when the Government then increased them. Today it’s increasing them for next 2 years & is using RPIX not CPI. Increasing tuition fee burden on students is wrong & associating Labour with this is a huge political mistake.
