We’re going to see a lot of these oversimplifications about “data centers vs farmland,” so let’s get smart on this real quick… > data centers aren’t “dumb”
> they’re foundational infrastructure for our modern digital economy
internet, cloud, streaming, AI, medicine and yes, even agriculture rely on them
> they drive real economic value, jobs, tax revenue, and innovation
> they’re not all being built on prime farmland… a lot of industrial and brownfield sites get used too
> plus, AI and data tools are actually helping farming get more efficient (precision ag, better yields, smarter supply chains) so we can do more with less land > the WNBA has been unprofitable for most of its 29-year history.
> it’s finally got a real shot at profitability thanks to bigger media deals, social media buzz, fan analytics, merch, and broader reach. > all of that depends on the exact digital infrastructure people are criticizing right now. > hell, this post by Sophie (who I’m a fan of btw) wouldn’t even exist without it. > BUT preserving good farmland is still important, and posts like hers raise real concerns about what’s happening in rural America. Let’s not demonize “big scary data centers” while ignoring everything they actually make possible. Hope this helps.
Sophie Cunningham@sophaller

so how do we save our farm land and stop all these dumb data centers?

Polluting your neighboring country with unchecked wildfire smoke is an act of war. The US should act accordingly

Had one beer tonight. Burger night out with the fam. Bubs, in Carmel, iykyk. I don’t drink that often. Nothing against it. I do enjoy it. But thinking I gotta stop. It made me tired, grouchy, detached. I could feel it. Only one beer. Probably not something I need in my life. Anybody relate?

Soccer will never be popular in the USA. What we’re seeing with the World Cup is nothing more than a fad. Within months we will be addicted to the NBA and NFL again. Those are real sports. Here’s why: - Soccer isn’t nearly violent enough. - There’s way too much whining. You’ve seen the fake injuries every five seconds. So freaking annoying. - The refs and rules seem incredibly arbitrary. Some of them are obviously paid off. Zero trust. -Scoring takes wayyyyyyy too long. -Penalty kicks are asinine. Way too easy. In other words, soccer is a wimpy faux sport. You can hate me for saying this but you know it’s the truth. I’m done with the World Cup. First, they took Portugal from me. Then the USA. The last straw was Haaland. Back to normal life! Won’t watch another game of soccer until 2030.

@OldRowSwig Critic scores are the dumbest shit I have ever witnessed. Pure fact is when you see a movie it is just you seeing it, so if you like it who cares what anyone else thinks? And if you do not, oh well, on to the next time-filler.

$PLUG is monetizing the future to fund the present. The hard part is that New York just put a one-year brake on the exact data-center buildout this pivot needs. Liquidity buys time, not certainty. stocknewsroom.com/plug-power-str… 2/2

$PLUG Plug Power. The real story is not the hydrogen dream — it’s the cash scramble. Selling grid assets to buy time while negative free cash flow still hangs over the name. That’s not a pivot, that’s a countdown. #StockNewsroom #PlugPower #AIdataCenters 1/2

@ossoinc @txsalth2o @Marriott I know more than you about this. Spend 5 years in over 150 different hotels in 10 different states, make friends with the employees and owners and then get back to me.

At a @Marriott I had all USB chargers but only USB-C blocks, and a phone at 30%. Looked for an alarm clock to set for the am. No clock. Called the front desk. "We don't have alarm clocks. We can set up a wake-up call." "There are no alarm clocks in this entire 14-story hotel?" "Nope" "Am I supposed to turn on the TV any time I want to know what time it is?" "I guess" "So if I wake up in the middle of the night and want to know what time it is, and I didn't want to turn on the TV to figure out what time it is, I'd have to, what, call you?" "Why would you want to know what the time is in the middle of the night?" "Here's the thing, when you get old, you wake up a lot in the middle of the night. If you wake up and it's 4:45, you say 'screw it, I'm up, ' but if it's 2 am, you have to figure out how to go back to sleep." "Ok, I'll call housekeeping" Am I the crazy person? Have phones eliminated clocks? Housekeeping had a clock, and as expected, it also had a USB port :)

As a person who has spent literal years of my life living in hotels… it’s because of the clientele in certain areas. They steal everything not bolted down. Same reason why a lot of them no longer provide paper towels, cups, toiletries and stock only enough toilet paper for just a few days
