What a HORRIBLE forecast by meteorologists – especially myself. Not only were we spectacularly wrong – we communicated poorly. It became apparent last night that some of our initial expectations would prove fallacious. I'd like to address what went wrong with our forecast:

This is so absurd. This model run has the Western US heatwave peaking just shy of a 600DM ridge. That’s about the strongest ridge that the region has ever seen even in the middle of summer. This is not normal.

I am intrigued by the potential for a sneaky, locally greater tornado threat in far northwest PA and extreme western New York State. The cool lake waters will steepen a temperature gradient at the northern edge of the warm sector, acting akin to a warm front. Good 0-3 CAPE too.

Buried! Plymouth, MA situation this morning

*Providence, RI Update* 37.9" of snow. Top all-time snowstorm and the 24-hour state record for snowfall was possibly broken today This is more snow than the ENTIRETY of 6 of the past 7 winters. The only one with more was 2022, and it was barely more than this (43.5"). #wbz

@FirstinWeather Haha yardstick has been broken for years. Don’t exactly remember how. Maybe a good thing I don’t end up with as much snow as many areas around or else it would have been hard to measure!
