@tetsuya_00x Easy. Different generation. Many that voted for the current mayor were either very young at the time or were from other states when 9.11 happened. Now they are the Cool kids living in Brooklyn. They were hoping to vote for boomer cuomo.

How the hell did the city that experienced the biggest Islamic terrorist attack in history vote for a Muslim mayor?

For the life of me, I can't understand why these jihadist terrorists are allowed to completely block the road in New York City as they mark 78 years since they tried to annihilate the state of Israel and lost. Deport.

the recent christian revivalist movement is probably better understood as part of the post-christian western condition than as an escape from it. post-christianity doesn’t abolish religion. it breaks it into displaced, unstable, sentimental, self-consuming fragments. crazy good "historical overview" document. critiqueanddigest.substack.com/p/the-post-chr…

Scott Galloway said something quietly profound: Men need relationships and marriage far more than women do. Widows are often happier after their husbands die. Widowers? Not so much. Single men in their 30s have a one-in-three chance of becoming substance abusers. When men lack that anchor, they often spiral into online rage, nationalism, and blame. Women tend to pour that energy into friends and careers. Galloway himself resisted marriage and kids for years — chasing more money, more relevance, more everything. Then he had kids with his partner and said for the first time in his life he felt sated. Enough. Like he could go now, even though he doesn’t want to. In a culture that downplays marriage and family for men, this is a reminder that the guardrails and purpose they provide might be one of the most powerful (and unexpected) sources of meaning we have. I’ve seen this pattern in friends and family — the ones with strong family lives often seem more grounded, even when life gets hard. What do you think — do men need marriage and family more than society currently admits?

My boss's boss is like 42, never married, no kids. Earns $275-300K per year. Goes on a minimum of two international vacations a year w/ his girlfriend. 10+ days, all out. Eats the best food, stays in top notch accomodations. Excursions, tours, nicest beaches, etc. Great guy, I'm happy for him. But what I've realized is that without kids, you end up chasing a lifestyle that has to continually be topped in order for you to be satisfied and find happiness. What he and others like him don't understand is that when you have children, seeing THEM experience life's most basic things and watching their eyes light up at all the "firsts", brings greater pleasure and joy than any vacation or travel experience ever could. Seeing THEM try blueberries for the first time is greater than dining at the best 5 star restaurant in Europe. Seeing THEM learn how to walk is greater than walking the Great Wall of China or strolling along the most picturesque beach. Watching THEM giggle uncontrollably at "peek-a-boo" tops any A-list comedian act. Seeing THEIR excitement when building a fort out of cardboard boxes and making a door big enough for daddy is superior to staying at 5-star resorts. Flying kites with THEM far outweighs excursions like parasailing or helicopter rides. Seeing THEM perform a recital on stage for the first time is more rewarding than watching a Broadway show or top notch symphony orchestra. ----------------- When you have children, all of a sudden you realize that life's greatest joys are not in the pursuit of things or pleasure or travel, but rather in the LOVE and bond you share with your very own image bearers. Seeing the beauty and magnificence and wonder of life all over again for the first time through THEIR eyes and expressions gives you something the world simply cannot offer, nor even come close.

Scott Adams could have kept his mouth shut in 2015, kept those lavish corporate speaking gigs where he'd earn 50-100K per talk, and have died with an extra zero or two in his bank account. Instead he chose courage and died surrounded by the love of tens-of-millions.

Less than a year ago, President Biden upped the Maduro bounty to $25,000,000. Removing Maduro was positive for Venezuela. As a Democrat, I don’t understand why we can’t acknowledge a good development for Venezuelans—and how deft our military’s execution of that plan was.

Hey @NYCMayor - I responded to your tweet yesterday with a few constructive suggestions as you enter office. It looks like you hid the reply after it got substantial support. Hopefully I am wrong about that, but multiple people have confirmed they can no longer see the reply. You ran your campaign on transparency and working for the people of New York. It doesn't seem transparent or helpful to hide the replies of residents who are engaging in conversation with you. Here is the screenshot so everyone can see what I said.

I was briefed this morning on the U.S. military capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, as well as their planned imprisonment in federal custody here in New York City. Unilaterally attacking a sovereign nation is an act of war and a violation of federal and international law. This blatant pursuit of regime change doesn’t just affect those abroad, it directly impacts New Yorkers, including tens of thousands of Venezuelans who call this city home. My focus is their safety and the safety of every New Yorker, and my administration will continue to monitor the situation and issue relevant guidance.

Happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating in New York and around the world. This year’s Festival of Lights comes at a very challenging time for Jewish families, following a scourge of heinous antisemitic attacks including last night at Bondi Beach. Antisemitism has no place in our communities, and we must root out this ancient hatred. I am proud to be a top leader combating antisemitism and standing up for moral truth. The story of Hanukkah is rooted in the resilience of the Jewish people and the victory of light over darkness, and good over evil. That light and goodness will prevail against the darkest antisemitic evils in the end. May this Hanukkah bring strength, peace, and hope to your home. From my family to yours, Happy Hanukkah ✡️🕎

Holy smokes … Full self-driving Tesla robo-taxis are now driving around Austin Texas. By 2030, it will be entirely normal in cities all over the world to jump into a driverless taxi and cross town for 80% less than it currently costs. Imagine a 40min journey for less than $10. There are four factors of economic production - land, labour, capital and enterprise. For the last 200 years, capital and labour were closely linked. More investment resulted in more jobs. From 2000 until today these two factors of production have been drifting apart. Companies like Lego have grown revenue by 10x and headcount by 3x in that time demonstrating that most of their growth came from capital not labour. As we go forward into the 2030s, labour and capital are barely correlated (or potentially negatively correlated at a certain point!) Consider almost every Tesla on the road already contains the hardware to become a robo-taxi. Consider That most women would prefer a driverless car over a driver or public transport. This change is going to happen swiftly and it’s going to be just the start… have you tried ChatGPT5.2???
