@Catch23x @FastbreakHoops5 Not sure Allen's shot would have changed his game much tbh. If it was Steph's pull-up three, for sure. But Allen was more spot-up. Steph with better athleticism would be wild imo

The thing i hate about austin rivers response and basically all Draymond critiques is they attempt to re-write history. In 2014 when Kerr took over, nobody had Warriors as a contender. Clippers/Thunder were presumed 'up next'...

@TheRealXavierP If Lebron played in the 90's you would have to disqualify him as the GOAT, by this logic, regardless of how well he played. Also, this logic suggest that Bron fans who believe this is a credible argument also believe his GOAT status is only as good as until he retires..

@MarcGrandi The most frustrating miss is that Podz isn't Klay - doesn't have the shot production or defence to be able to replace the value Klay provided. Podz' connecting and hustle in isolation is great but someone other than Steph and Jimmy need to hit shots. No one else has consistently

A lot of what I hear about Steve Kerr vs. Joe Lacob (and Kerr’s future with the Warriors) comes down to a simple question: What do you blame more for the Warriors recent mediocre seasons — Steve Kerr’s coaching or the roster simply not being good enough?

Steph Curry 🐐 talks about sneaker free agency and wearing Kobe Mambacitas: "The free agency season came pretty fast. It was from one week to the next. It became clear that this was the direction it was headed and once my deal was done, it was like 'What do you do now?' @NickDePaula, who has been a part of the process the entire time, we had a conversation going into that San Antonio game about which shoe would be the right one to kind of break the seal on me not wearing an Under Armour or my own signature shoe on the court. We had a lot of ideas, even to the point of me walking in bare foot. When it came down to it, the Mambacitas spoke to how important storytelling is in a shoe or can be in a shoe, what Kobe and Gigi meant and still mean to basketball. He's an inspiration and as a girl dad and being able to leverage a platform that obviously pay tribute to him, but have a moment that was special to me and hopefully to their family and not really ask anything in return. It was just to be able to pay tribute. The fun part was when I put the shoes on. I left the locker room and there was so many people looking at me confused. 'What you got those on for? Oh you about to shock the world and break the internet.' All those types of comments from our coaches and teammates and all that. Everybody had a smile on their face because they knew how important it was for me to have that moment. I was nervous walking all the way through the back, getting my warmup in, and as soon as I got on the court, I just had a smile on my face just because it was a special, special moment that kind of jumpstarted this whole free agency season."

Fanbase is thoroughly cooked man. Jonathan Kuminga is comfortably in the playoffs after helping his team get from the 10th to 5th seed, and youre sitting here making hypotheticals after a 10/9 play-in game. The collective logic of the fanbase is in the gutter smh.
Jim Park🏀🌌@Sheridanblog

Does anyone think Kuminga could have done what Gui Santos did in the starting lineup in the play-in game as a supportive piece to Steph Curry while playing two-way basketball and plugging in at SF/PF? Without that JK trade, we never see this version of Santos due to politics

@imtwiice @pasaghetti @v576090 @bscotty410 Warriors fans can't understand stats outside basic box scores they will never accept he's been the Hawks' most effective defender since he joined the team. I'm pretty sure he has like a 102-104 defensive rating, too, in 16 games with Hawks.

@imtwiice @v576090 @bscotty410 I don't understand how this stat is produced. At face value, it looks questionable to conclude that JK is in this tier of defenders and has contributed to the Hawks the way you're claiming. First thing that jumps out is it's a 2 year stat and JK has been on the Hawks for 2 mnths?

@v576090 @bscotty410 Are you stupid or retarded? You said now way people think he helped and I just showed you a stat that clearly shows he contributed and your rebuttal is that he sat games and they won without him? This cant be the state of our fan base man. I refuse to believe it.

@jffstphns3 @SamQuinnCBS I honestly think it's because OKC is so deep and built so well that Shai doesn't seem necessary? If you swap him out with any other star they'd be as successful. Swap Shai out for Ant/Jaylen/Brunson etc. what happens? Take Steph off the Dubs and they're severely limited

@SamQuinnCBS I’m talking more about perception. Th OP said they don’t *feel like* an all time great team. I’m saying it’s partly because Shai doesn’t *feel like* an all time legend. He might be just as skilled, but he hasn’t reached rockstar status nor is he in Mount Rushmore conversation.

I mean, is Shai so far now from where like Kobe was in 2000 or Steph was in 2015? Some guys—your Shaqs, your LeBrons, your Wembys—are preordained as all-time guys. Others aren't, but at a certain point it becomes clear that's where they're headed, and I think that's where SGA is.
Jeff Stephens@jffstphns3

@SamQuinnCBS I also think it’s because they don’t have someone considered to be an all time legend. The all time teams had Jordan, Kobe and Shaq, Steph, Magic and Kareem, Bird, Wilt and Jerry West, Russell, etc. Shai isn’t that, not now.

I'm gonna wade into these waters, probably regrettably. Steph was better in the regular season. Indisputably. That's a combination of Steph having what may be the best offensive regular season in NBA history, LeBron jogging through regular seasons by that point, and David Blatt. Steph then gets hurt in the playoff opener. He comes back in round two, but he's not quite the same. They meet in the Finals. LeBron is clearly better. Steph almost wins anyway. But Draymond, and then Bogut, and then history. I tend to lean pretty heavily on who was better in H2H series in "who was better" conversations, and on top of the actual result, the matchup was clearly more favorable for Steph than it was LeBron. LeBron's superior series, even with the Draymond/Bogut factors, is pretty decisive. After the series, I think if you asked, "who is the best player in the league moving forward," the answer has to be LeBron. Where I think Steph's BITW case at that point gets more interesting is that I think Steph probably was better in the 2016 regular season than LeBron was in the 2016 playoffs. We just didn't get to see if he'd be able to maintain that regular-season absurdity into the playoffs because he got hurt. I don't think you could plausibly have said "Steph has passed LeBron!" in that window. Steph's 2016 season just wasn't sustainable for anyone, and it happened to come, *relatively,* during a lower point in prime LeBron's trajectory. In 2017, Steph regresses to his mean while LeBron levels up and imo reaches his absolute peak in 2018. There's clearly a gap. But what I'm broadly getting at is, at his absolute apex, I think Steph may have scraped past where LeBron was in that particular moment while not actually surpassing true peak LeBron. Like, 2013 or 2018 LeBron is better than 2016 Steph. But 2016 Steph might've been better than 2016 LeBron. I wouldn't say that definitively. Just that I don't think it's a crazy argument. And I think Steph is the only player this was true of in this window. Kobe, Durant, Kawhi or Giannis at the end, I don't think any of them poked their heads into LeBron territory from 2009-2020 the way Steph did.
coopz@Coopz___

The only people that actually believe that Steph was BITW over Bron in 2016 is Warriors fans, I promise you this, lol

These are the trying and vexing hypotheses that can never be tested. It's like saying Wilt Chamberlain would have dominated Magic Johnson. Who knows? Different eras. Let's respect them instead of indulging in mythical comparisons.
Eddie A Johnson@Jumpshot8

Magic would win 7 or 8 titles in this era, multiple MVPs and Avg 25 points 15 assists and 15 rebounds in this era. You youngsters have zero clue how much he would dominate today’s game and did not have to take 1 3 point shot. His name is Earvin Magic Johnson!

@TheSecondMojo @SamQuinnCBS Defense definitely matters and Steph plays adequate system defense. He holds his own and that's enough because of his outsized impact on offense, allowing for more defensive leaning lineups. Splash bros shooting unlocked the OG death lineup which featured Iggy/Dray/HB

@_JasonLT Tbh I haven't fixated on his injured status too much over the years. If you're available, you play no excuses. I do take issue with the retroactive Dray suspension though. Will forever mar Bron's legacy. If he came back and won in 17 after a 16 defeat, that's inarguably great.

Last note r.e. the 2016 Finals, Warriors fans are quick to (rightfully) point out that Steph was banged up. But the playoffs have always been a war of attrition and LeBron’s durability is one of several reasons why he was still the better player. Similarly, it’s a barrier between where Luka is now and where Shai and Jokic are. Those dudes have been able to survive the attrition of an NBA season at a higher level.

This is why it’s so silly to think Steph’s 2016 regular season somehow moved him past heart-of-his-prime LeBron James. I do think Shai has been the best player this season! He deserves credit (That’s what MVP is for). But all factors being equal, give me Joker in a series.
Nate Jones@JonesOnTheNBA

Jokic still the best player in the world. Anyone that says otherwise is cooked. No one consistently impacts a game on his level. And he LOVES big games.

@JMuch88 @Mozzie30 @BillSimmons I take your point that if LeBron was flanked by Klay/Dray/AI he'd do well. But it seems like you agree that Hughes/Jeff wouldn't be enough to help Bron get to the Finals in the West. Here's a fun question for everyone: is Bron/Wade/Bosh>Steph/Wade/Bosh?

@Mozzie30 @pasaghetti @BillSimmons If you swapped LeBron for Steph on the Warriors in 2016 they go 82-0 and 16-0 in the playoffs. Klay, Draymond, and AI are all hall of famers and the that team was deep beyond them too.

@Mozzie30 @BillSimmons Every year from 2015-2018 people would talk about how Steph was better than LeBron in March and then in June that take became absolutely laughable. Steph always needed 2-4 hall of famers next to him to win. LeBron could drag Jeff Green and Larry Hughes to the finals.

@buzzedaldr1n Because of their misses on Wise and JK? They both had question marks leading up to the draft, I don't think those question marks are apparent for AJ and DP. I think they just make more sense now and ahead. Like honestly what can CB give you that the current roster can't already?
