@Bill430719 @PoPville Drivers aren’t computerized. Maybe we should have grammar and spelling monitors and hand out citations for that too?

@MotoristRights It’s about bikers and drivers being courteous and safe. Laws can be helpful but the former is what counts.

Bike bros demand that drivers follow all the rules of the road -- and some that they make up -- while they insist that none of the rules apply to them. These spoiled brats are fundamentally unserious, and their tantrums should be ignored by policymakers.

@enforcelawsNYC How many times do I have to school you. Cyclists have no legal duty to obey traffic laws so how can a cyclist break a traffic law is cyclists have no duty to obey traffic law. If I run a red light how the NYPD going to get my ID minus probable cause? They can't.

@UrbanTurf_DC DC speed limits are so low that they are minimums for cars, better as limits for bicycles. You basically have to drive in idle with one foot on the brake. It’s a massive money making scheme using safety as an excuse way beyond reasonable.

@ZZZZach89 We’ve been paying a bag tax for years to clean up the Anacostia river. It doesn’t seem like they’ve been doing anything with that money?

@JAlves6 @WABADC I’m a city biker who also commutes to work in a car. Isn’t the problem that there’s no space on CT Ave without eliminating 1 of the lanes of one of the central arteries for commuters and drivers?

What if we converted all those vacant, decrepit strip malls around the country into new housing? 🏠 I wrote about the idea, which is not far-fetched at all vox.com/the-highlight/…

The Dirac delta function, denoted as δ(x), is a mathematical concept that is widely used in physics and engineering, particularly in the fields of signal processing, quantum mechanics, and electrodynamics. It is not a function in the traditional sense but rather a distribution or a generalized function. The Dirac delta function is defined to be zero everywhere except at x=0, where it is infinitely high in such a way that its total integral over the entire real line is equal to one. This unique property makes it an ideal representation of an idealized point mass or point charge in physical models, and it is often used to model impulses or singular events in time or space.

@TramFanAccount @DCStreetcar @DDOTDC @MayorBowser The street car while charming, is a giant waste of city funds. A free bus would accomplish the same thing at a fraction of the cost and eliminate tracks in the street which are a danger to bikers. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The fact that extending @DCStreetcar west on H St NW, NJ Ave and K St NW is not even in the conversation anymore is such a failure. Climate goals, congestion, equity, accessibility. It would be a huge boon to downtown. How is it not in the action plan?!?! @DDOTDC @MayorBowser

@BarredinDC @DDOTDC Bus lanes are highly inefficient as the remain empty 99% of the time while they double the traffic where there is already the most congestion. Not a rational policy.

.@DDOTDC is intending by end of the year to build protected bike lanes (both sides of the street) on Columbia Road NW in Adams Morgan basically from 16th Street all the way down to Connecticut Ave. Dedicated center bus lane for a block or so up north. buspriority.ddot.dc.gov/pages/columbia…

@SafeSidewalksDC @MayorBowser I’d love a solution for both residents and drivers. I’m a 20 year DC resident, walker and biker too. I also drive to work through the city and with the 20mph speed limit, bus lanes, and light system designed to stop traffic every 1-2 blocks, it affects working lives too.

@SamAntar Check out the taxpayer paid, high fee, express lanes for the wealthy on VA 66 west of 495. Empty while the taxpayer’s no fee smaller lanes with a lower speed limit suffer almost always congestion and backups.

@MotoristRights That’s not a fair comparison because only cars and bicycles can start at home and end at the exact destination. And because the weather isn’t great everywhere and not all people can ride bikes or go grocery shopping on a bike, that leaves cars as a central part of the solution.

This is dumb and pointless. Yes, thousands of people can walk down a sidewalk. But outside of big cities, where do you find thousands of pedestrians, how far are most people willing to walk, and how fast can they walk? Vehicles can easily take 1-8 people 50 mph even in winter.
big_pedestrian@big_pedestrian

This is so illustrative of everything wrong with American transportation policy. The base unit of transportation is *people*, not cars. Cars, including these ones, are the least efficient, most expensive, dangerous and polluting option available to move people in a city.

If we want to revitalize downtown D.C., we need to consistently activate our outdoor public spaces! That means closing off roadways for markets, dining, music, and entertainment! People will come here from across the region for that!
