@stackerco You are such a shameless liar. You did not read apologetics. You rehashed every tired, debunked anti-Mormon argument out there and simply hand-waved away the answers apologists gave you.

Quick educational resources for those just starting to question your faith (specifically Mormonism) and want the real story: I consumed the apologetics. I read the books, articles, listened to the Church's version, I debated the critics. Then as soon as I realized they were lying to me, I was disgusted by them and wanted just what the real story was. Facts, evidence, data. I didn't want any nonsense from any other faith. So if you're going through the same thing, here is what helped me: Biblical Scholarship. *Dan MacClellan. I mention him first because he's LDS, apparently still active, and is a great soft landing spot for a Mormon who wants the real story of the Bible. *Bart Ehrman. He's likely the guy who first made biblical scholarship easy to digest for the non scholar. He's agnostic/atheist so he comes at it from just the scholarship without the bias of any denomination. Although I will get comments that he puts his atheist bias onto his work. What's good about him also, is he had his own rough faith crisis coming from fundamentalist Christianity so there is a lot more in common. *A History of the Bible by John Barton. Great book to be set on what the Bible actually is, apart from what your religion told you. Mormon History There is a ton here worth mentioning. But I'll start with just a few. *John G Turner. He's a never Mormon who has written two great biographies, one on Joseph Smith and one on Brigham Young. Because he's never been Mormon, it's hard to detect a bias either way. He's also kinder to these prophets than you'd guess. *Sunstone History Podcast. Currently there are 161 episodes covering almost everything it seems. It just tells the stories and the history just for history sake. And there are wild stories you've never heard. *Ben Park. His books, podcasts and YouTube channel are some of the best to get a real good view of Mormonism in a succinct way. I find him very balanced. Not too anti or too faith promoting. He gets a lot of criticism from believers who thinks he focuses too much on the negative story lines. But those are the stories I personally wanted to more depth into. *Dan Vogel. Dan is a critic but he might know the most about early church history than anyone. His two biographies of Joseph are incredible. Although not faith building, I actually appreciate Joseph more reading them than I did before. *D Michael Quinn. This one is controversial among believers because he was excommunicated. But Quinn died still having belief in it, which is interesting to me. But his work on the magical world of Joseph's time and the power dynamics within the church are foundational to understand how everything in the church is now. Spirituality outside Mormonism Things like handling a faith crisis, finding purpose & meaning, spirituality, etc. is a journey after losing faith. Here are a few that have helped me, and I know there are a lot more: *Richard Rohr. Two of the best things I've read since losing my faith was Rohr's "Falling Upward" which was incredibilly relevant to my own experience in losing Mormonism and moving to a new stage in life. And his lectures on the Sermon on the Mount paint that whole thing in an entirely new light that I've never understood before. Gave me a new appreciation for Jesus. *Alan Watts. It seems a little to cliche to list him here. But the way he speaks about awakening and transforming yourself and being in the moment is so relevant to what I've experienced losing belief in my childhood religion. *Master Shi Heng Yi. The Shoulin monk is amazing on YouTube. The way he articulates eastern philosophy and purpose of life is very powerful. *Philosophy: Any Stoicism (Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca) etc. Plato, Nietszhe and Descartes have had an impact on me. There's a guy named Nick Kasmik on Instagram that has great short rundowns on some different philosophal ideas worth following. Critical Thinking: *Carl Sagan's "Demon-Haunted World." Please read it. And I'm sure you already know about it. It's the book to help you spot the nonsense in the world. *"Factfullness: 10 Reasons were' wrong about the world and why things are better then you think." This is good to read because a faith crisis makes us pessimistic and a good critical thinker in general. But this book shows you how pessimism can warp your reality too. *"The Art of Thinking Clearly" by Rolf Dobelli. Quick read with short examples on how to think better. *Steven Hassan. I think it's really important to follow him and read what he says about cults for people losing faith in their religion. He came from the Moonies cult and outlines how our minds are easily controlled. He teaches how to have freedom of mind, which is something I think many coming from intense religion can relate to. If you've read this far, what resources would you recommend?

@Slatzism Oh please. You know full well the speakers in the bottom panel should be reversed. It's overwhelmingly men who are voting against this insanity, and overwhelmingly women who are voting for it.

A Trinitarian that attacks the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints enters into an subconscious state. They aren't really thinking. They're almost in a hypnotic trance regurgitating what they've been told by their pastor/priest or read on the Internet or saw in a cartoon. They can't think deeply about the claims they're making. If they did, they would see how ridiculous they sound.

The real story here is not that a 22 year old hooked up with someone they worked with and that a marriage between two very young people is off to a rough start, these things are bound to happen at that age and it’s why you should wait until you’ve grown up some, it’s that the right is filled with the type of people who will secretly, and often illegally, record your conversations as they pump you for information about your personal life and then blast it all over the internet in order to destroy you, and more importantly that it’s filled with people who don’t see a problem with that because they love being entertained by salacious gossip more than anything else

@Mankosmash You’re a guy in his 40s who’s wasted the reproductive potential of his gf while I actually got married at 25, am getting married a second time, and had children immediately. According to you, you’re a bunch better feminist than myself!

@hollowearthterf Of course she can be saved. But she has to repent first, and she hasn't. She's the type of girl who thinks it's funny to burn worlds because she has yet to face consequences for fucking with other people's lives.

If LDS leaders were smart, they would be using this family for anti-degeneracy propaganda... rather than making laughable "Mormon" messages valorizing lds singles, Sudanese refugees, Shaniqua converts, and girl boss soccer players. The future will be held by whichever institution produces lots of White babies. Historical innovation and abundance is largely a White phenomenon. More than 90% of the most important tech innovations in history were produced by White men who were all raised and birthed by White women. 20 years ago, the average heritage white Mormon girl had 4 kids... in 2025, it's down to less than 2... not enough to replace the current American lds population. The high birthrate from 20 years ago is why everyone in lds leadership is gushing about the Church Education System having the most students ever! (Numbers will start declining in a few years). I will never understand why marriage, being a MOM, and having as many kids as possible became a taboo subject in the lds Church. Will never understand why women are encouraged to serve missions, get psychology and yoga degrees from BYU (supposedly the Lord's institution), and are never called to repentance for their overt feminism. In reality, becoming a mom and having lots of children was just as much a woman's responsibility as serving a mission was for the YM. But in the 2010s, with the rise of feminism amongst younger millennials, it was MeaN to expect anything from women... I mean, don't you know that it hurts feelings to not be able to do everything the boys do!? Too many millennial girls had been exposed to 90s girl bossery in the public schools they attended (another red flag issue is why the Church never did private schooling). It increasingly appears as though the Amish will inherit the Earth... which is sad because even 15 years ago, pro white demographers thought that Mormons would be the standard bearers for civilization... turned out not to be the case. And I predict that birthrates are going to crash even further in Utah, given that Utahns are like 5 to 10 years behind when it comes to the most disastrous secular trends. Gen Z lds girls are just like girls from the broader culture with the exception of being slightly more chaste. Hence why there are still more gay pride flags in Utah than anywhere else in the country. The stupidest trends become a means of virtue signaling for a people who have become too urbanized and disconnected from the harsh realities of the physical world.

There is feminism in the church and most don’t realize it and women will have to overcome what they were taught in young women’s and relief society and learn that it’s important to lay aside your own ego and your feelings to be the partner and companion your man needs. Just because we are women doesn’t mean we won’t be accountable in judgment if we hurt the man we love. We aren’t perfect just because we are women. Learn to see yourself and how you treat others and strive every day to be better and grow to become more loving … to uplift the men in your lives and be a comfort to them and not a nag or detriment to their mental and emotional well being.

The Pope had called together a meeting of the cardinals and said, "I have some good news for you and some bad news. The good news is this. Our blessed Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, has returned to earth for the long-awaited Second Coming, and the Day of Judgment is at hand." There was an exalted silence for a few moments and then one cardinal said, "But Holy Father, with good news like that, what's the bad news?" The Pope mopped his forehead with his handkerchief and said, "The information has reached us from Salt Lake City." - Asimov Laughs Again: More than 700 Favorite Jokes, Limericks, and Anecdotes

@jaredadairbell In my YSA ward, I knew a return missionary who served in Ireland, and said that a local once went up to him and asked him, without the slightest hint of irony, "Are you a Catholic Mormon or a Protestant Mormon?"

I can tell most guys bitching about this are probably losers. Massie lived most dude's dreams. Married his high school sweetheart, had kids, raised those kids into successful individuals who now gave him grandkids at 54, and became a reputable man. Now that his wife tragically passed away, he decided to get a trophy wife. What's the problem with any of this?
