SSRIs create a spectrum of personality destruction, and we're playing Russian roulette with human consciousness. The response varies wildly because we're experimenting with pharmaceutical compounds that fundamentally alter human nature itself.

Funny how “neuroplasticity” started to pick up steam right as everyone realized “chemical imbalance” was fake.

Did you know that 79% of psychiatrists would recommend immediate antidepressant treatment for an outpatient with depression, but only 39% they would take one themselves immediately in the same scenario? No this is not a joke.

OBGYN just told my wife to go on SSRIs during pregnancy I asked if there’s studies she can show to make us comfortable She said she doesn’t sit around reading medical literature but 70% of her patients are on them while pregnant We have a health crisis in America

“People have got to stop talking badly about antidepressants because they saved my life” Okay good for you but they didn’t save mine. In fact they messed me up pretty severely and I don’t think I’ll ever be free. But I’m not supposed to say that because YOUR experience was good.

New study with more than 600,000 PTs shows that IBS pts on any antidepressant (all subclasses) have 35% higher relative risk of all cause mortality - risk goes up with cumulative exposure

Inducing emotional numbness disguised as mental health treatment is inhumane & soul crushing. This is not antidepressant. The symptoms of PSSD go way beyond just sexual dysfunction. They impact empathy, joy & the ability to even feel human. This can be permanent.

@Unstoppable218 Actually there is different version of this as well: a person says they don't have issues or side effects from a drug...but then in a separate instance will complain of of unresolved ongoing issues and conditions they've been having.

I’m serious when I say this. If you’re claiming you’ve had no side effects from a drug, yet a post about its potential harms immediately triggers defensiveness or emotional volatility, that contradiction is worth sitting with. It’s difficult to argue you’re completely unaffected while reacting in a way that suggests otherwise.

@RLewisTherapy They still can't say the words "emotion blunting". They have to wrap it in very general sanitized language which keeps obfuscating the potential issues from patients.

We figured out that dad has a psych med induced neurological injury, and has been suffering from akathisia. It’s been 6 years since any psych medications. Last summer his symptoms started, after a flare up likely induced by mold (CIRS) and stress. It was complicated by pneumonia and associated sepsis a month later. It’s been horrible. Neurological injuries from psych meds are far more common than people know. I made this video to explain what they are and what akathisia is because they’re not talked about enough, they’re misdiagnosed, nearly impossible to treat, and hidden by the pharmaceutical industry. I don’t plan on making another update about my dad, it stresses my family out, and myself, and there’s nothing more to say about it until things get better. I will be jumping up and down about psych med injury awareness from now on as it’s impacted my health as well, and is devastating. Prayers are appreciated still.

It's strange how we can't flush psych meds down the toilet for environmental reasons, but it's suddenly ok after you consume them and urinate them into the toilet.

Harmful psych-speak can label: 'self-care' as 'non-compliance' 'no drug effect' as 'treatment-resistance' 'lucidity' as 'lack of insight' 'withdrawal' as 'relapse' 'I disagree' as 'oppositional' 'It's making me worse' as 'delusional' 'legitimate response' as 'disorder' Others?

Psychiatry has never once in its history had a clean slate. The cocaine, vibrators, forced experiments, ice-picks, lobotomies, comas, false imprisonment, electrocution, chemical castration, chemical lobotomies. It’s almost… insane?

@markhoro I seriously think doctors make the classic mistake of confusing "ability to fall asleep" with "good (REM) sleep" when it comes to ssri's. Because many of them will say "ssri's help with sleep".

All too common. Psychoactive substances can impair sleep, concentration, lead to mood instability, anxiety + depressed mood, lead to compensatory changes that upset natural equilibrium - lots of possible ways drugs can make mental health worse. Would be helpful not to ignore
Susan@BlackshepSusan

It's crucial for people to understand that most Doctors will blame your "mental illness" not the drugs. Years of getting worse being told it was "treatment resistant depression". I had to figure it out on my own that it was the psychiatric drugs that landed me on disability. Proof? Got off the drugs and recovered. It's a crap shoot all right. Harmed by the drugs? You're on your own.

You're not going to believe this one....a discontinuation study is a psychiatric research method where you put patients on a medication, then abruptly remove it from half of them. The half you took off the medication feels terrible. Withdrawal symptoms, destabilization, etc. The half still on the medication feels comparatively fine. Researchers then use this contrast to argue the medication is effective. Do you see the problem? They aren't measuring the drug's effectiveness. They're measuring the withdrawal effects of removing it abruptly. And they use that distinction to push medications through FDA approval. This methodology was used with lithium. It has been used repeatedly across psychiatric medication trials. It is COMPLETE fraud, dressed in the language of science.

From @MikhailaFuller's website. This is exactly the type of nuanced, specific and informed awareness we need. The polite phrasing of the medical industry is designed to inherently obscure the severity of the harm we endure. prescribed-harm.com
