I brought the rooster back to my uncle, feeling proud of myself. But when he saw it, he got angry. “This rooster is too small! Go back and bring me a bigger one!” My heart sank, but I didn’t dare argue.

My usually super-organised man is having a very bad afternoon. We’ve flown to Jhb to attend a black tie event. Waiting for our Uber at ORT, I look down and ask: “Where’s the bag you checked in?” Standing at the airline’s office at arrivals, that’s where. He managed to rescue that situation before the Uber arrived. We get to the hotel room, start unpacking and he discovers he’s got the pants, the tux shirt, bow tie but no tux jacket. Off he goes in another Uber to a nearby mall and returns with jacket, shirt and tie. Nice little unexpected expense. It’s not black tie, but 10/10 for effort. Then I hear: “What the hell?!” The security tag was left on the tie. Not a good look. Right now the hotel’s obliging maintenance team is having a go at removing it without damaging the tie. And yes, he showed them his receipt incase they thought he stole it and was involving them in his crime.. What next?? 😂🤣

Friends, yesterday was absolute madness! Honestly, I’m feeling a bit broken today. Yesterday was a full-on 14-hour marathon. And not just “in the office” for 14 hours but actually working non-stop – writing articles, handling emails, taking calls, attending meetings. Oh, and somewhere in between there, I managed to appear on The Morning Show, deliver a Keynote, hit my 947 feature, and shoot an advert for 6 straight hours. I literally collapsed into bed last night. It was BUSY! But there’s something a bit bizarre I want to share with you. Something I hit smack in the middle of the ad shoot yesterday that might surprise you. Something you may have never heard of. It’s called semantic satiation. So here’s how it goes: I had this script yesterday, right? Not complicated. We had 12 shots to get through, each with a simple line. But on about the 11th take of the 6th shot, my brain just… blanked. The lines, the words – they stopped making sense! It’s like my mind hit a wall and the words evaporated. You see, semantic satiation kicks in when you repeat something so many times that it loses all meaning. You’re left feeling detached from it, like you’re reciting random sounds instead of actually speaking. It’s the most bizarre thing. Friends, it was like my brain just wasn’t working. I couldn't make sense of what I needed to say. And I couldn't remember it either. This can be a nightmare when shooting, but here’s the thing: it happens in all areas of our lives. We all get caught up in routines, saying or doing the same things over and over until they become meaningless. The trick? Take a breather. Find a moment to reset. Break up the repetition. Whatever field you are in, whatever you're doing... breaking patterns and finding balance is everything. For me, today’s plan includes spending some quality time on a pool floatie to recharge! Don’t be jelly, it’s not a full day off – we’re putting the final touches on our book edit because we start printing on Friday. That’s right, friends, it’s really happening, just in time for Christmas this year! So, I’ll be editing the book from my pool. Don't call me, email me or text me please and thank you. Oh, the words did come back after I took a break. Like, I was absolutely fine. More than fine. They don't call me "one take wonder" for nothing. LOLzies. Jokes aside. Whatever you’re doing today, please remember to take a pause when you need it. Find a moment to reset. Break the repetition. Keep balanced. And have the best bladdy day. Okay. Love you. Bye.
