There’s something deeply satisfying about watching a golfball blast itself into oblivion at 55 mph (24 mph horizontally) The #HailCamera system is providing an absolutely unprecedented view of hail in total free fall.

A look at our @tilttingproject sounding data from a weak supercell we deployed on 05/01/25. Near storm environment readily moist, but lower levels quite dry, which matches the visual queues we had of high cloud bases with weakly rising scud, as well as fairly cold outflow temps.

On Monday, 3/31, TILTTING team members on a research deployment intercepted a portion of the storm in York County, successfully launching two weather balloons into the system near Fawn Grove, PA. A strong start to the Northeast chase season!

So awesome to see @millersvilleu students a part of @tilttingproject be mentioned in @NWSStateCollege AFD this evening! One of TILTTING’s goals is to assist forecasters in the process of producing more accurate forecasts during severe wx events. And TILTTING members did just that

A very successful chase day today with @tilttingproject along the Mason-Dixon line! We got a balloon into a non-tornadic supercell with some of the best structure I've ever seen! Easily one of my favorite chases I've done. #pawx

Chase mode is ON for tomorrow! On Sunday our team met to coordinate plans to deploy on a volatile environment for Monday afternoon. We're also well underway with training for using our Windsond devices, which will be on our weather balloons launches for future deployments!
