Dear CGM, NHAI Regional Office Hyderabad (@nhairohyd), Enough is enough. It is unacceptable that the NH-44 flyovers from Suchitra to Medchal in Hyderabad remain half-built even in November 2025 after FOUR long years of chaos, diversions, and daily suffering for lakhs of commuters. The latest reply (5 Nov 2025) exposes the shocking reality: Suchitra–Bowenpally: ONLY 50% completed in 4 years, despite spending ₹273 crore. Kompally–Suchitra: Barely 51% done as of September, new deadline June 2026 yet another extension. Every day, we are forced into pothole-infested diversions, dangerously narrow lanes, bumper-to-bumper traffic, and hour-long standstills. This is not “inconvenience.” This is gross mismanagement and a serious public safety hazard. Ambulances stuck. School buses stuck. Working families stuck for hours. And now, with the Paradise–Dairy Farm elevated corridor works, the entire stretch has become a traffic disaster zone. Hyderabad is a top-tier economic powerhouse. But NHAI’s execution on NH-44 is making us look like a neglected city. We demand immediate action not more excuses: Hold contractors accountable for criminal delays. Deploy night-shift works and double manpower. Release a strict, non-negotiable timeline and meet it. Restore basic safety on diversions immediately. Hyderabad has tolerated this mess long enough. Finish the job. NOW. If you fail to show substantial progress immediately, we will be forced to stage a Dharna in front of your office and under your incomplete flyovers. For Amazon I use Amazon icici pay card as we get 5% as cashback on every Amazon purchase and that’s the card I use mostly for online shopping. Apart from that I also have an Axis card card that I sometimes use when travelling aboard as it has good forex exchange rates. These days for most regular transactions I just use UPI hence credit card usage has gone down a lot.

Hmm interesting numbers in the mid-premium smartphone market. But I have a question, I used to remember Redmi making some interesting performance centric devices earlier, so can we expect something like than for enthusiasts also.

We are incredibly proud to have achieved more than double the performance in the mid-premium smartphone segment. Your trust is the fuel that keeps us pushing boundaries every single day. Thank you for believing in us! #NoMiWithoutYou

Not difficult to form government with alliance like say PMK. Lot of switching sides would happen. I don't know right from our intelligence wing, anyone had clue that Vijay has this much support. This is the least expected and most surprising results.

Best time for a road trip in Kerala Best time: September to February 🌴 That’s Kerala’s post-monsoon and winter window. Roads are clear, humidity drops, and the greenery from monsoon is still lush. Breakdown: October - February: Peak time - Cool, dry, 24°C to 30°C - Perfect for hill stations like Munnar, Wayanad, Thekkady - Backwaters, beaches, and wildlife safaris are at their best - This is peak tourist season, so book hotels early and expect more crowds September - October: Shoulder season - Monsoon has just ended, landscapes are super green - Fewer crowds than winter, prices slightly lower - Roads are mostly fine but check for occasional landslides in ghat sections June - August: Monsoon - Heavy rain makes driving tricky: slippery roads, reduced visibility, landslide risk - Looks magical and lush though - Only do it if you’re experienced with hill driving and okay with slow travel March - May: Summer - Hot and humid in coastal areas, 32°C to 36°C - Hill stations like Munnar stay pleasant - Fewer crowds and cheaper stays Pro tips for Kerala road trips: Start drives early to avoid traffic and heat Keep FASTag active for tolls Check local weather + road updates before heading into Western Ghats Don’t miss the Munnar to Thekkady stretch for tea plantations and mountain views

Amrutanjan went to Burma from Madras with the Tamil traders (who maintained a large community there for thousand years.) In Burma, some 30 years after Amrutanjan reached there, a Chinese trader copied it to create the Tiger Balm. Which Indians now import from South East Asia without knowing its true origins. Of course, the Chinese from SE Asia will never accept the blatant copy that Tiger Balm is. Because Camphor, Clove oil, and Menthol aren't used in their traditional medicine like Ayurveda and Amrutanjan. And Tiger Balm was first made in Rangoon where Amrutanjan was already popular, not in China or Malaya.
Parimal@Fintech03

Before the world knew the power of Big Pharma, a journalist in a tiny lab in Bombay created a substance so potent it triggered a trade war with London. It was a yellow grease that did not just soothe headaches but funded a movement, bypassed British blockades, & became 1 of the few Indian products to make the Empire's own medicine look like scented water. Unlike other brands started by chemists, Amrutanjan was founded by Kasinadhuni/Kasinathuni Nageswara Rao, a man who was primarily a journalist & a freedom fighter. In the late 1800s, the pain balm market in India was a British monopoly. If your head throbbed, you bought imported ointments. Rao saw this as a tax on pain. He retreated into a lab & perfected a formula that was significantly more potent than anything coming out of London. The British tried to push their own balms like Vicks/early menthol rubs as sophisticated & odorless. They attempted to smear Amrutanjan as primitive because of its overpowering scent. Rao leaned into the scent. He realized that in a country where literacy was low, a brand could not just be a name, it had to be an experience. He distributed free samples at music concerts (Sabhas) & religious festivals. By the time the British tried to patent the market for pain relief, the entire Indian public had already associated the smell of camphor & menthol with trust. The British balms felt alien & weak compared to the sensory explosion of the yellow tin. The smell of Amrutanjan... that piercing, camphor-heavy aroma became the literal scent of the freedom struggle. If you walked into a room & it smelled of Amrutanjan, it was a silent signal: A patriot is present. It was a scent the British police could not arrest, yet it was everywhere. The British had a Patent Medicine Tax that made imported drugs expensive. However, by classifying Amrutanjan as an Ayurvedic Proprietary Medicine, Rao managed to navigate a complex legal gray area. He essentially used the British legal system against itself. By proving his ingredients were ancient yet his manufacturing was modern, he avoided the crippling taxes that applied to purely Western drugs, while maintaining a price point (initially 10 annas) that made British imports look like daylight robbery Rao fought back not just in the market, but in the press. He used the profits from the balm to fund Andhra Patrika, 1 of the most influential anti-British newspapers. The British were literally paying for their own downfall. Every time a British officer’s wife bought a jar of Amrutanjan for a migraine (because it worked better than the London balms), she was inadvertently funding the printing of revolutionary literature that called for the end of the Raj. By the 1930s, this Indian yellow grease was being exported to Indian diaspora & locals in South Africa & Ceylon. It became a global symbol of Eastern Wisdom defeating Western Chemistry. It was 1 of those few occasions, an Indian OTC (Over the Counter) product achieved cult status internationally w/o a single pound of British investment. In fact, the yellow tin became so iconic that it did not need a label in the villages. The color & the smell were the brand. It was a biological Swadeshi. While others were fighting with words, Rao was fighting with molecular relief.

Sobha Singh was also a prosecution witness against Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt in the Legislative Bombing Case of 1929. He was apparently the only person who saw Bhagat Singh and Dutt throw the bombs, although even the magistrate didn’t really believe him. Sobha Singh was later knighted by the British.
Himanish Ganjoo@himganj153

Sobha Singh, father of the writer Khushwant Singh, built most of New Delhi, including the North and South Blocks and Connaught Place. In fact, Block A of Connaught Place was named "Sujan Singh Block" after his father.

I often cite contemporary Germany to my students as an example of a country that lacks strategic autonomy. Germany needs gas, and for years the cheapest source was Russia. It even built an undersea pipeline across the Baltic Sea to ensure a steady flow of Russian gas to power Europe’s largest economy. After the Ukraine war broke out, Germany joined the sanctions regime, reduced its dependence on Russian gas, and started arming Ukraine. Ukraine (maybe with help from CIA and Mi6) blew up the Nord Stream, Germany's most critical energy link. Not a word of protest. German economy fell into deep a recession. It started importing LNG from Qatar and the US to make up for the loss. Ukraine remains unresolved. trump returns to the White House. He is not keen on Nato. What is Germany doing? Insisting that U.S. troops should stay in Germany (and in wider Europe)! Merz was the first among European leaders who openly turned against Iran, even before his pal netanyahu and trump launched the war. He said in January that Iran's leadership had only a few days left. The war, which trump thought would be over in three days, lasted 40 days. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed. Qatar's biggest gas complex was hit during the war, and its ability to export LNG is largely restricted. So look at Germany. It continues to back the country that blew up its pipeline. It doesn't want to import Russian gas. But it faces severe restrictions on importing LNG from Qatar, thanks to the war launched by the US, its patron saint and Israel, a close ally. What's left? North Sea pipelines from Norway and LNG from the US. Out of frustration, Merz says Iran is humiliating the U.S. And trump is now out to get him!

Contrary to the self-image of the middle-class Bengali, the bhadralok class is a minuscule minority, and most of them live outside Bengal. They are identifiable through certain carefully curated cultural markers: 1) Restraint in speech 2) Pursuit of 'High' culture 3) Focus on knowledge professions 4) Repudiation of machismo While almost the entire bhadralok, historically originated in the three 'literate' castes - Brahmin-Kayastha-Baidya - it did not mean that someone from these three castes automatically qualified to be bhadralok. Unless you were already born into a bhadralok family, entering it required a very specific process of acculturation, and a gradual, but systematic, acquisition of cultural capital . The bhadralok acted like a caste, which closed the doors on others, even when they came from the Bengali upper castes. The decline of the bhadralok began in the second half of Left rule, as it had to accede to the pressures of the OBC dominant castes, even while it retained formal control of the party. Since then, the bhadralok and their offspring have existed in a defensive mode; collaborating as junior-partners, with the resurgent trading caste-communities, that progressively gained power in Delhi, while resenting their ascendance. In Bengal, those left behind during Left rule, especially upper-castes who couldn't enter the closed bhadralok circles, first backed Mamata Banerjee, only to find that her politics was not going to benefit them. Since 2015-16, a large section of this upper-caste - ideologically anti-Left, and often anti-secular - has shifted to the BJP. By now, they have moved beyond the cultural habitus of the bhadralok and seek empowerment through enterprise and finance. They want another round of change - a Poriborton 2.0
