Today, I am suspending my campaign for Austin City Council - District 9. Running for this seat over the past six months has reinvigorated my love for central Austin and the incredible diversity of people and ideas in our growing city. It has been a privilege to meet so many neighbors, activists, and everyday Austinites who care deeply for our future. I'm stepping back for personal/family reasons and will continue to stay engaged in the community and in the coming election cycle - just not as a candidate. @JenRobichaux That looks like a graduation ceremony. But also, depending on the faith, politics can be acceptable from the pulpit.

The sight of Talarico campaigning from the pulpit is more than just troubling. It is a serious ethical violation. No matter what your faith may be, this is the misuse of something sacred for political advantage. It ignores our founders' clear warning that mixing church and state corrupts both institutions. When pulpits turn into campaign platforms, religion stops acting as a check on government power and instead becomes a weapon for it. The separation of church and state protects us from both religious tyranny and government-controlled faith. This is not genuine faith in public life. It is the selling of faith for partisan gain. In the end, it cheapens religion, poisons politics, and breaks the moral responsibility to keep the sacred free from the selfish ambitions of the moment.

@data_atx @RyanAlter Ryan Alter is a profligate spender who spent thousands of city dollars on solo lunches at a time when the budget called for restraint. @DavidForATX is running on more fiscal responsibility and independence from city hall lobbyists.

I am conflicted on this race because @RyanAlter is my favorite council member. He is more conservative than people think and he is smart. ( Notice how he hasn't joined the Siegel + Zo gang on the recent ICE stuff and IT consolidation fight )

This exchange between @SenBlumenthal and Trump’s judicial nominees is utterly astounding. If you can watch this and still think this country isn’t falling into authoritarianism and fascism under Donald Trump, then you are not being honest with yourself.

Sadly, a wall outside #D10's Congregation Beth Israel has been vandalized with antisemitic graffiti. The vast majority of #austin residents respect their neighbors' values and beliefs, but this is a reminder of the rising level of hate crimes both here and across our nation.

Austin can't do any of the significant/ambitious infrastructure work without federal and state support. It's incredible that, in an election year, Sen. John Cornyn is coming out so strongly against the interests of his own constituents in Central Texas.

Opposing federal grants for your own constituents is a choice to keep Texas stuck in the past. We need a senator who believes in Texas cities and fights for our future and the transit we sorely need.

Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia— AOC: Wah wah wah. We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no. Republicans have fought for partisan gerrymanders across the United States of America. And these are the rules that they have set. And so if the Republican Party wanted to start this, they did this in North Carolina. They drew out three Democratic members of Congress in North Carolina. They did it in Texas. What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over, doesn’t fight, and takes everything sitting down. And what they’re mad at right now is that we are here in a new day. And we have been asking the Democratic Party to stand up and fight, and now they did—and now the Republican Party doesn’t like the fact that they are fighting against someone who actually will stand up for the American people. So if Republicans decide that they would like to revisit a ban on partisan gerrymandering, I welcome them. We have the bill right here to end this all today. But they don’t want to, because they like pursuing and continuing to enact an unfair electoral landscape. And so we have an obligation to defend ourselves.

This is Texas under the GOP. A west Texas Wellhead has been blown out for years, creating a highly toxic lake ( Lake Boehmer). The toxic water is from fracking in nearby wells. The Texas Railroad Commission refuses to do anything about it. #txlege
