@HNarwekar What about light pollution menace from Marine Drive Gymkhanas ? Also Wankhede should have advanced lighting system to minimise spill into night sky
Speaking at the BMC House proceedings, I raised the urgent need for effective technological sustainable solutions to address civic infrastructure gaps towards climate resilience and rising pollution levels across the city.
I brought attention to the discharge of excavation mud and cement-mixed water directly into SWD lines at active construction sites across Mumbai. To prevent our drainage channels from choking, I urged the administration to make sedimentation tanks mandatory at every construction site.
I also proposed the installation of advanced air purifiers at key traffic junctions across the city, and strongly advocated for the replacement of wet scrubbers with dry scrubbers at crematoriums to significantly reduce smoke emissions. Together, these measures can go a long way in controlling both air and water pollution in Mumbai.
In addition, requested to appoint as a consultant gpobal technical experts in urban planning and architects for climate adaptation and coastal resiliency planning and green infrastructure solutions. This will help to plan comprehensively to mitigate sea-level rise and build climate resiliency.

@mybmcWardC@mybmchealth Horrible glaring bright lights on top of Sejal Aquarius building at Navi Wadi , Off JSS Road . Who has granted permissions for such advertisements? It’s just 7:30 pm , still dusk outside but horrible brightness..Please remove at earliest
@MNarwekar@Supersmart999@MumbaiPolice Why not open up CCI stadium which is colossal waste of open spaces , convert to large public open space , have cycling / jogging tracks ? Why continue to lease to clubs?
The tragic accident at near Parsi Gate, Marine Drive that claimed three lives is deeply concerning. Marine Drive is where Mumbai breathes, and the thousands who walk, jog, and cycle along it every day must be able to do so without fear.
I have written to the @MumbaiPolice and the @mybmc directing immediate barricading of one lane from Nariman Point to Girgaum Chowpatty, to ensure a dedicated and safe space for pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists. This has been done before and it must be reinstated without delay.
I will be following up closely until concrete action is taken on the ground.

Mumbai has two cricket stadiums next to each other at Marine Drive. Why?
Brabourne Stadium came first. It was built in the 1930's. It was part of the elite Cricket Club of India. After India's independence in 1947, international matches were played here. Bombay Cricket Association was the official cricket body and used the Brabourne Stadium. The Club and the Association had an arrangement with regards to revenues from ticket sales and allocation of seats.
In the 1960's a battle was fought between the two sides as BCA asked for more seats. CCI refused. The man heading BCA was a Congress politician SK Wankhede. He felt insulted, and he decided to do something. He got permission to build a new stadium next to Brabourne stadium. He managed the funds and in 13 months a new stadium was built. Its name: Wankhede Stadium. Text by @VishalBhargava5
