Today I'm returning to Bailey Nelson as Engineering Manager which means lots of CommerceTools, Shopify and AWS but just as importantly, no Adobe or Magento

@BrooksLybrand The amount of time people seem to spend on testing and switching between various models, tools and techniques makes me wonder how much more productive developers really are.

Daily I'm seeing people realize GPT 5.5 > Opus 4.6/4.7 That's great if that's you, but I think most people are learning the wrong lesson. If you are heavily using llms and agents as part of your programming, why pick a tool that only lets you use one lab's models?

In Australia it’s now smarter to become a professional gambler and put your winnings in a self-managed super fund than it is to start a company and hire employees. Incredible policy @AustralianLabor!

@petehanssens That's a tough one. It never made sense that you could claim depreciation for something you expected to increase in value. However... will this result in landlords being less willing to repair properties; increase rents; increase end of lease damages claims? Time will tell.

The saas apocalypse is seriously overstated by developers who don't value their time. Business owners struggling to find time for accounting, marketing, hiring and growing their business aren't going to waste it vibe coding an app to "save a few dollars".

Just watched Hoarders for the first time, it was this older lady named Terri that was adamant she wanted everything thrown away. They hauled out over 1 million items, and I stg the only thing she told them not to throw away was a MacBook box, can’t make this shit up.

@BrooksLybrand Product focused developers will be fine. Those who write code until something then works are screwed.

I have a hunch that less people are going to (permanently) lose jobs in this industry due to AI taking their job, and more to AI changing the job and folks just not having an interest in the new job I'll probably be wrong as soon as the job is no longer "make agent harness"

@edjgeek Directionally I think it's correct. I really want to see serverless as a deployment model rather than serverless as an architecture these days.

@mjackson All AI companies assumed they owned the future but third party harnesses and tools have turned them into utilities with zero switching cost. It's a fundamental flaw in their business model that they need to resolve. Fighting OpenClaw, etc is the only option they have for now.

Anthropic fighting OpenClaw is just dumb. So short-sighted.

@AvidCommentator @FunkFiat ONP won't be able to form government until they can convince Liberal voters to put them ahead of the ALP. Without that they can't convert 1st or 2nd in the primary vote into a 2PP win.

As it stands today, I would imagine so, yes. At an aggregate level their 2PP share of the vote is not high enough for them to be considered a real contender for government. However, this masks significant differences in the performance of One Nation by locale, as was illustrated to a degree in the SA state election. In a lot of ways it makes the chances of them becoming a true opposition in terms of relative seat numbers less likely, at least as things stand today. On the other hand, their base of support in the regions and outer metro areas could still see them win a very high number of seats from a third party perspective.

It's interesting that One Nation is not only in a winning position on a 2PP basis against the government amongst Gen X's, by the slightest of margins. But that One Nation is outperforming the LNP on 2PP in this demo, but not in others.
