KTCC (chennai) the rains will start in another 1-2 hours and for next 4-5 days looks good. Big day ahead for Delta (Nagai, Mayil, Karai, Tanjore and parts of Ramanathapuram). Cuddalore and Pondy too will get heavy rains. ================ The Depression was located well below Sri Lanka and had its LLC (low level circulation - see yesterday tweet in X) and now it has started to take its journey north then it will be W-NW. Due to its slow moving and stalling. it is going to be near Tamil Nadu coast for next 4-5 days till Nov 30 / Dec 1. KTCC (Chennai) - Today will be the start of rains. Good clouds are moving in and we might see rains in the next 1-2 hours. Rains in Chennai will pickup from 27 and will be there till Dec 1. If the Depression crosses coast below Chennai then we will get rains while crossing the NTN coast too. So for KTCC lot of rainy day ahead with heavy to very heavy rains in some of the days. So from today to Dec 1, enjoy the rains. Should we park cars in bridge, stay in lodge, empty all super markets - I dont advise anything like that and have never advised anyone like that. KTCC needs rains with Poondi water storage at 15%, Chemba 59% and Redhills 71% this spell is much needed one. Will there be water problem for Chennai in 2025. The answer is NO. I am expecting good rains in catchment areas from this spell. This is the last big rains for KTCC this NEM. Hope it clicks. Kovai and interiors belt - As of now Depression is far away and the chances of interior comes once Depression crosses the coast and moves into Tamil Nadu. So till then it will be coastal districts and the districts close to coasts. South Tamil Nadu - I have doubts on South TN rains maybe upto Ramanathapuram they will get rains. Lets see where the Depression crosses. Srilanka - This Depression wont cross Sri Lanka, for reasons (rugged mountains of Sri Lanka or the position of the sub-tropical ridge) the Depressions and cylcones always avoid crossing Sri Lanka and move towards Delta to KTCC coast. This case too similar only. But North and North East Sri Lanka are in risk of getting extreme rains for next 2 days. Wind: Wind is not an issue with this Depression and rains are the only threat. So dont waste time trimming coconut tress leaves. Fisherman: List to Govt advice and this is going to long 4-5 days the Depression is going to stay near NTN coast.
