The idea of Universal High Income to counter AI dominance replacing need for people to work for their existence is frightening. A society existing mostly off the governments tit is a society enslaved and one that will never be content in life. And we know the dangers of a dependent and idle mind. Thats going to be their angle though, “you won’t have to work”.

Kaj menite @IvanSimic59 @NovaSlovenija?

Two weeks without mobile internet improved mental health more than antidepressants and reversed roughly 10 years of attentional decline. Screen time dropped 49% (314 to 161 min/day).

Massive unsecured database from IDMerit (ID/age verification service). It exposed ~1 billion personal records across 26 countries: names, addresses, national IDs, DOBs, phones, emails. Digital ID is such a great idea 🤡

@roks0n @VasjaBocko Na žalost so energetska podjetja v 🇪🇺 delno v lasti države. V🇺🇲so popolnoma privatna.

@SebJohnsonUK I fear what Europe is lacking is the culture of entrepreneurship more so than the ecosystem. The latter is just downstream from said culture of risk-adverse, status-quo seeking, tall-poppy cutting Europeans and the governments they elect.

No person in their right mind would start an AI company in Europe. Europe has lost the internet race, it lost the smart phone race, it will also lose the AI race. Europe had AI regulation before it had any AI companies.

@sobedominik Agree on all but one part: "There is nothing inherently wrong with the EU way of life". There is. Complaining doesn't get you anywhere. Talk is cheap. Take action, take risk. Only way forward. 1600s Europe understood this. 2026 Europe just lives on inherited cascading results.

Europe is (still) great if you want to (can) live a retiree life at the age of 30: Wake up at 11am, grab a coffee, lunch, grab a coffee, complain about the status quo but don’t have a solution, smoke a cigarette / drink some Aperol with friends, dinner, go to bed. Wake up next day and do the same thing over again. If you are young and have any ambitions especially Central & South Europe will cripple you. The gov will do whatever they can to slow you so down so you’ll loose interest in even creating a company, your neighbors will laugh at you if your first attempt was a failure and most of your family will tell you to finally „get a real job so you can get a comfy pension when you are older“ I think there’s nothing inherently wrong with the EU way of life but if you have any entrepreneurial spirit it will choke you. There’s all these EU startup initiatives but so far it’s classical EU: just talking and not doing so why bet on it on changing? I’m glad people like Peter talk about it publicly but I started to doubt things will actually change. Rather go where you are treated the best, find like minded people and ship cool stuff. If you are „stuck“ in the EU, you don’t have to fully leave your home in one go. Get some remote work for a while, start traveling and get a fresh view on how other people approach entrepreneurialism.
