@zoru75 The fencing of the footpaths was not at all necessary. Could have gone with bollards instead 🤦

@ChaloPmc When will people learn that widening roads do not solve traffic. Make better public transport and pedestrian friendly infrastructure does.

If our politicians understand that electrifying railways would reduce foreign oil dependency, why don't they apply the same logic for sustainable public transport and pedestrian infrastructure? Just building good footpaths would completely eliminate those 2-W short trips.
Dr. Robert Rohde@RARohde

The main modern alternative to electric trains is diesel. India, China, and Japan have all been deliberately electrifying railways as part of their strategy to reduce dependency on foreign oil. India, in particular, went from ~35% electric in 2014 to near 100% today.

@caleb_friesen Some questions come to my mind 1. Benefits of SAR+MSI fusion on a single platform? 2. Are they planning a constellation? 3. Are they Planning for some Edge Computing as well or all data processing will be conducted at ground stations? 4. Processed data availability?

Here is a quick dose of #IntegratedTransit inspiration from Bhubaneswar (more photos in the thread). We see so many plans on paper—here’s what it looks like when those plans survive the real world. Bringing to life, good street design isn't glamorous work—it's hard-fought coordination between agencies, a lot of site visits & plenty of drama often spread across years. We often forget that these "wins" aren't accidents. They are the result of years of invisible work—by planners, engineers, and city officials who showed up, argued for better, and refused to settle for the status quo. A salute to the countless hands that made this project happen. Indian cities are right now in the perfect time to resume LRT and bring back trams in Kolkata, Hyd and Mumbai and start local mfg so T2-3 cities can use it instead of metro But instead we get an elevated rickshaw with a usecase in an airport
Swarajya@SwarajyaMag

🚇 Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited is planning a PRT (pod taxi) system, on the lines of Mumbai, to improve last-mile connectivity in the city. 📍 The network will link hubs like HITEC City, Financial District and Raidurg. 🏗️ Firms like RITES Limited and LEA Associates have bid for feasibility studies. swarajyamag.com/news-brief/hyd…

@iPradeepSangwan @swachhbharat Implementing a fee system can be beneficial. Put a 40-50 rupee bottle fees on glass bottles. People pay the fees when they buy the alcohol and get it back when they deposit the bottle in any store. Needs a lot of logistics but can be done imo. Germany does it flawlessly.

liquor companies focus heavily on distribution & sales volume, but not on reverse logistics like bottle returns Every tourist or local-if you take the pain to go & buy same can be done when it’s empty For an individual or any entity it’s too difficult to manage #Himalayas

@thrishul @pervinsanghvi 1. Comfortable and safe journeys for passengers. 2. Increased revenue for IR which can be used for better maintenance and buying of new rakes. AC is not a luxury but a necessity for public transport in India.

What does the Supreme Court bench, including the CJI, that refused to intervene in the cutting of 45,000+ mangroves for a Rs 18,000 crore coastal road — have to say about this daily nightmare of the common Mumbaikars?! A road that will benefit just 10% of daily commuter trips!
Bhaumik Gowande@bhaumikgowande

Life of an average Mumbaikar: Birth. Suffer in Local Train for rest of life. Death. Remember—those planning your future transport of Mumbai barely travel from these metro, local trains or buses. Hence they are the way they are.

There is so much truth in this. India has the worst public spaces because no politician uses it. And thats exactly why lutyens delhi and places like sunder nursery, khan market, Chanakyapuri are so top notch because all national politicians use those spaces.
javier@javiermalagon

La mayoría de las ciudades tiene espacio público de pésima calidad porque los políticos no caminan. El alcalde de NY caminó 6 millas de su oficina a su casa para marcar los primeros 100 días en el puesto. ¿Cuánto camina tu alcalde?

✊ Data belongs to the people. Democracy runs on transperancy West Bengal's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 data ie. the data that determines whether your name stays on the voter list, is technically "public." But try accessing it. You'll hit CAPTCHAs. Download limits. Scanned PDFs that no machine can read. Data buried so deep it may as well not exist. So we did something about it. Sabar Institute, with the help of our researcher @Souptik_H and support from our team of @sabirahamedgd, @Ashin_econ and @mallick_so63507 has built free, open, interactive maps of SIR 2026 data across all 294 West Bengal Assembly constituencies and we're making them available to every journalist, researcher, activist, and citizen who needs them. 🪦 ASDD Deletion Map — See exactly where voters are being deleted as Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate. Track overall deletion %, gender ratio, death counts, untraceable voters — assembly by assembly, on a live map. ⚖️ Supplementary Adjudication Map — Follow the adjudication trail: who's under review, how many were added or deleted, what percentage are still pending — across every single constituency. Why does this matter? Because mass deletions from voter rolls don't affect everyone uniformly. They happen in specific places, to specific communities, in patterns that deserve scrutiny. You cannot scrutinize what you cannot see. 🔗 Link to explore the map is in the next tweet If this work matters to you, support us using the link below👇 #DataForBetterLives
