Cricket fans have been waiting in vain for the #INDVSSAODI to start in Lucknow. But thanks to dense smog, pervasive in most north Indian cities, and an AQI of 411, visibility is too poor to permit a game of cricket. They should’ve scheduled the game in Thiruvananthapuram, where AQI is about 68 right now!

🚨 How Monopoly Can Cripple Customer Service — A Personal Experience IndiGo Cannot Ignore 🚨 On 05/12/2025, while scheduled to travel on IndiGo 6E 346 from Hyderabad (RGIA) to Bagdogra (IXB), I faced one of the most stressful travel experiences of my life. This wasn’t a simple delay—it revealed major cracks in Indigo’s operations, communication and customer sensitivity. ✈️ Misleading Information Before the Flight Received an email on 04/12, stating that the flight would depart 10 mins early at 8:10 AM. After reaching the airport: ➡️ Boarding pass showed boarding at 9:15 AM ➡️ WhatsApp update mentioned departure at 10 AM From planned departure to actual schedule communicated inside the airport = a delay of 1 hour 50 minutes. ❗ That Delay Is Legally Significant As per DGCA Passenger Charter (CAR — Section 3, Series M, Part IV): Reference: civilaviation.gov.in/sites/default/… ✦ Delay > 2 hrs requires refreshments/meals ✦ Delay > 6 hrs requires alternate flights or refund Not a single bottle of water was offered—not even basic communication. 📵 Communication Stopped Completely After 10 AM, flight status stopped updating. ➡️ WhatsApp updates failed ➡️ No new emails ➡️ No announcement near the boarding gate Passengers had no idea about reschedule time or ETD. After delay of >2 hrs mark, @IndiGo6E denied digital or verbal traces of communication in order to deny the obligations as per the passenger charter (mentioned above). 😞 What We Discovered Was Shocking There were passengers from cancelled flights of previous day, waiting to board the same flight. Some had already waited over 24+ hours. 👎 No Accountability There was no visible responsible authority: • No escalation desk • No senior manager • No proper explanation Staff either kept silent or disappeared. Passengers kept asking, arguing, pleading—no response. For a scheduled flight, that’s unacceptable. 😡 Cancellation Was Another Struggle After more than 4 hours of delay, many of us chose to cancel. Cancellation queue was at @IndiGo6E Counter B, RGIA. ➡️ The queue took nearly 1.30 hours ➡️ People from 04/12 were still waiting there ➡️ Staff went on “break” during peak stress hours I was in line behind two Japanese professionals who had come to Hyderabad for business and were heading back to Tokyo. To catch their onward international connection, they had booked an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to New Delhi. They had missed their connecting flight to Tokyo. Watching them witness disorder, queue jumping, shouting, endless waiting and lack of guidance was deeply embarrassing as an Indian. I helped them reach the desk, by then damage is already done. They had to argue about the missed international flight due to Indigo's delay. 🎒 Baggage Chaos — Completely Unmanaged After cancellation, I was told to collect baggage from Counter H. What I saw: ➡️ Unorganized piles of luggage thrown around ➡️ No staff ➡️ No verification ➡️ No process A CRPF person redirected me to the Indigo baggage claim at Belt 9. There: ➡️ Passengers from 03/12 and 04/12 were waiting for bags ➡️ Bags from previous days were lying unattended ➡️ Latest bags weren’t even released yet My argument with Indigo and airport staff continued—from boarding gate → counter → baggage area. 🙏 One Person Finally Helped At around 4 PM, when I was exhausted, dizzy and starving, I finally found one Indigo staff member who showed empathy. After hearing my case, he ensured my luggage would be delivered home as I am local (yet to receive). To that individual employee—I am grateful. But the system failed miserably. 💔 My Personal Losses Because of this chaos, delay and cancellation, I lost: ✔ once-in-a-lifetime family memories (wedding missed to attend) ✔ return ticket cost from another airline ✔ travel expenses to and from RGIA ✔ one paid leave from work ✔ several hours of mental stress and physical discomfort and it continues until I get my luggage consist of valuables. The financial loss is one part. The emotional loss cannot be quantified. ✨ Airlines Must Understand: Passengers are not data points. We are not ticket numbers. We are humans with commitments, families and rights. Delays happen. Operational issues happen. But: ➡️ withholding information ➡️ lack of accountability ➡️ no human support ➡️ careless attitude cannot be “normal”. This experience should never repeat for any traveller. India deserves better. My earnest appeal to @narendramodi @DrSJaishankar @revanth_anumula @ncbn @PawanKalyan @DGCAIndia @PMOIndia — I am not here to decide whether @IndiGo6E acted deliberately or otherwise, but the situation clearly appeared calculated. The manner in which the staff at @RGIAHyd were utterly clueless was shocking, especially in terms of communication and baggage handling. This incident warrants a full-scale investigation. What unfolded turned a major international airport into the equivalent of a poorly managed local bus station. The consequences were not limited to Indian passengers—numerous international travellers were subjected to this ordeal, and I am certain this will leave a damaging impression of our country. Such experiences directly impact India's global image, tourism perception and business confidence. This issue cannot be ignored. It is truly disheartening to witness how, year after year, the atheist LDF govt’s apathy has resulted in avoidable hardship for lakhs of Ayyappa devotees. Pilgrims from across the nation are being put through immense difficulty due to the LDF govt’s poor preparation and mismanagement. On one hand, essential services for devotees remain inadequate; on the other, it is deeply troubling to learn that organisations such as the Ayyappa Seva Sangham, the Amritanandamayi Math, and the Subramanya Religious Trust have reportedly been restricted from offering their voluntary support. Sabarimala is not merely a pilgrimage site; it is a spiritual anchor for millions in our country. The least a government can do is uphold its responsibility with sincerity and respect.
