SECRETARY RUBIO: Why are we in NATO? You have to ask that question. Why do we send trillions of dollars and have all of these American forces stationed in the region, if in our time of need, we won't be allowed to use those bases?

@ObservantA25170 @NFL Your opinion. Others disagree. Sorry, but NFL doesn’t cater to you alone. Their audience base is way more diverse. They picked an act who is one of the most popular acts in the world. That brings in viewership and therefore money.

@NFL You just put on the absolute worst halftime show in Super Bowl history. You need to take back control of halftime shows. Bad Bunny was a disaster. His music is terrible and his delivery is laughably inept. You made a huge mistake putting on such a terrible show.

@emin_bred @SenTomCotton That’s not what it says at all. China and Russia don’t have the sophisticated science program that allows the U.S. to ensure its nuclear weapons work. This means we don’t have to blow up nuclear weapons in Nevada!

@SenTomCotton In accordance with the CIA’s assessment, the United States should also resume its nuclear testing.

After consultations with Director Ratcliffe and his team, they have confirmed to me that the CIA assesses that both Russia and China have conducted super-critical nuclear weapons tests in excess of the U.S. zero-yield standard. These tests are not historic and are part of their nuclear modernization programs.

Not clear if POTUS is talking about explosive nuclear testing or delivery vehicle testing, but we know that nuclear testing is unnecessary, unwise, and unpopular - especially in Nevada where it would take place. nti.org/about/programs…

Testing again would also be a domestic political mistake. With weakened safeguards for public health and the environment, do we want to risk returning to the days of finding strontium-90 in baby teeth? The people most harmed could be the very voters the administration depends on.

A U.S. nuclear test today would be a show of force at the expense of stability. It would invite other countries to follow suit and erode confidence in the scientific foundation that keeps the US deterrent credible.

The U.S. does still test its nuclear weapons—by taking them apart, examining components, running experiments, and conducting non-nuclear tests. This is how we maintain confidence in the stockpile without explosions. Resuming explosive testing would undermine this practice.

In the 33 years before the U.S. halted nuclear testing in 1992, countries conducted over 1,000 tests. In the 33 years since? Roughly 20. The global moratorium—and the treaty backing it—has curbed both the spread and sophistication of nuclear weapons worldwide.

@ChapterLurid @DarylGKimball The fact that the national labs/SecDefs/SecEnergy have certified the safety/reliability of the U.S. stockpile annually for decades through the stockpile stewardship program would suggest otherwise.

@DarylGKimball Trump is not misinformed and out of touch. He simply disagrees with your position, and believes there are diplomatic and military and political reasons. He may think there are technical reasons, but can't say if so based on his statement.

Trump is misinformed and out of touch. The U.S. has no technical, military, or political reason to resume nuclear explosive testing for the first time since 1992. It would take least 36 months to resume contained nuclear tests underground at the former test site in Nevada. 1/

This directly contradicts the commitments I secured from Trump nominees — and the opinion of Administration officials who certify our nuclear stockpile — who’ve told me explosive nuclear testing would not happen & is unnecessary. I’ll fight to stop this.
OSINTdefender@sentdefender

U.S. President Donald J. Trump announces that he has instructed the “Department of War” to resume the testing of nuclear weapons, in response to testing programs by other countries, citing both China and Russia. The last nuclear test by the United States was carried out on September 23, 1992, at the Nevada Test Site.

If @realDonaldTrump truly wants to pursue arms control with Russia and China (and he's right about that; arms control is critical to reducing the #nuclear risks he's highlighted), resuming explosive nuclear testing would be counterproductive and take us in the wrong direction.

Resuming explosive #nuclear testing (if that's what @realDonaldTrump means) is unnecessary (see stockpile stewardship program), increases nuclear risks if Russia/China/others follow suit, and would have adverse economic, health, and environmental impacts in #Nevada & the region.

@DrEliDavid It’s not humiliation, it’s called nightmare gridlock during UN week (have you been there during that time? I have.). And this was obviously thought to be a funny situation. Love how people want to make drama of everything.

Priceless: Police in New York stops Macron's car, because the street is closed for Trump's convoy. Macron calls Trump to allow him to pass, but Trump humiliates Macron and tells him to walk instead, which he does 🤣

I just spent 20 minutes having a discussion with a liberal. Topic: The accusation that Charlie Kirk’s memorial service was a violation of the separation of church and state. I’ll tell you what struck me so clearly: the left fears the presence of God and open Christianity.

Putin has drawn a line in the sand on Golden Dome. Trump says he wants #nuclear weapons reductions and eventual nuclear disarmament. Reciprocating Putin's offer to remain within New START limits and canceling Golden Dome can advance those goals. reuters.com/world/putin-of…
