Evidence suggests mass amnesty for undocumented immigrants could benefit the U.S. more than deportation. Economically, amnesty might boost GDP by up to $1.7 trillion over a decade and add $184 billion in taxes, while deportation could cost $315 billion and cut GDP by 4.2%-6.8%. On the humanitarian side, amnesty keeps families together, supporting 5.1 million U.S.-citizen kids, whereas deportation risks emotional and economic harm. Though some argue deportation upholds the law, targeted enforcement can address security without mass disruption. A balanced amnesty with background checks seems the better path forward.
