1/5 This week, exactly a decade ago, I had a biryani so spicy in Birmingham, that when I tried to walk to the till, I collapsed on the floor. To this day, I am regularly reminded of that moment and gently mocked , here’s my favourite call backs from the last decade, a thread:

There’s a VERY good reason asylum seekers get circus tickets and Amazon parcels. But the Mail on Sunday was never going to tell you that. Here’s the crucial detail they left out: 🧵

Name the most random footballer you can possibly think of; the sort of name you manage to pull out of the ether and people go “Fuck me, I forgot he even existed.” Try not to drop a name that’s been said by someone else, I’m trying to see something for @fbtlpod. Cheers.

Reform’s victory could be the start of its downfall. On the surface, it feels like momentum. But look back at history, and the warning signs are clear. Here’s what they are: (and how Labour can benefit)

Pensions - The solution The current average pension liability for someone retiring today, adjusted for 3.2% triple lock increases over 20 years, is £315,500 per person. We could make that roughly £9,500 per person if we change the end we pay to the start. 🧵

We need to have an uncomfortable conversation about pensions. It was introduced in 1909, but it wasn't until 1950 that the average life crossed the threshold. Now we live nearly 20% of our lives above the state pension age, and growing.

Last week I had an Air Source Heat Pump heating and hot water system installed in my 1970’s home, to replace a 30-40 year old boiler. This will be a thread 🧵 about the experience and a week on, how is it going. Initially I was searching for a new boiler, just to see the estimates come up around 5k, I guess due to the rise in costs of everything. We then stumbled on the idea of getting an ASHP installed and were attracted by the government grant. We looked at 5 different companies to get ours done and in the end we decided to choose Aira (airahome.com/en-gb ), a Swedish company, which we first saw on @Everyth1ngElec @FullyChargedShw YouTube channel, who come with a 15 year comfort guarantee ( airahome.com/en-gb/comfort-… ) backed by insurance. It was rather attractive. #ASHP #Aira

The UK SDR is taking a “NATO first approach - enhancing the UK's contribution to the Alliance as a matter of policy, whilst protecting vital UK sovereign requirements and strategic reach”. But what might “NATO first” mean for Combat Air? Let’s look at some simple concepts. 🧵1/8

Is Europe even relevant anymore? -Or is it only good for Harry Potter, the Louvre and fancy cheese?  Let's take a whimsical jaunt through things that Europe still does quite well… And where it might stand to improve.
