@MattLovesVinyl @GamewithDave Some people never cared about the sharpest image, I still watch DVDs sometimes, the 2004 star wars ones, the only way to properly watch the movies

After years of streaming, people are starting to buy DVDs again because of price hikes, ads, and disappearing content. Fair move?

@GamewithDave I have over 400 VHS tapes, some of movies that will never be put to DVD much less streamed, over 200 dad's, and probably 50+ blue rays. Keeping physical copies is always best.

@dakroot Yeah they might avoid you, in wich case, you just have to move on, but at least you know. Im notnsaying to BRAG about your screwups, just acknowledge them. Most good people understand that everyone makes poore choices sometimes, and will likely forgive someone who acknowledges it

@scoutingdad2022 I don't get people who take the squirming, doubling-down route. Say you messed up. People are quite forgiving, but like you said, they might also avoid you.

@dissidentwest I thought Oppenheimer was boring as all get out, same with Dunkirk. In fact the only Nolan films I've seen that I really liked were batman begins and dark knight. Dark knight rises was bad, but im guessing it was because heath died and it was supposed to be return of joker

You may have the courage to hate The Odyssey, but do you have the courage to hate the rest of Christopher Nolan’s overhyped and grotesquely pretentious filmography?

“People don’t want to work” has always been a weird argument. Offer $350K a year to flip burgers and watch how fast applications start pouring in. The problem isn’t work. It’s pay.

@1787Centinel @MericaCulture Dont forget, it was after the Yankee victory at gettythat NYC defended into a week of utter chaos that took thousands of union troops to put down. Think what it would have been like after a loss with those troops not free to use

@MericaCulture Lee marching toward Philly after a firm Gettysburg defeat would've likely caused the Northern public to lose its mind. War is as much about the mental as it is the map. What was happening in the west would've been of little consolation in PA/MD/DC.

If Stone Jackson had survived, do you think the South would've achieved independence? No, and here's why. 1. It’s fair to say that Stonewall Jackson’s presence at Gettysburg may very well have tilted the outcome in favor of the Confederacy. 2. I don’t see any evidence that a defeat at Gettysburg would have weakened Lincoln’s resolve. 3. The Confederacy would have had to hope that Northern sentiment would tilt strongly against Lincoln to the point where he would have lost the election of 1864 as backlash to battlefield failure. That would have been more than a year after the battle, though. 4. Even with a victory at Gettysburg, the Confederacy was quickly being folded up and routed in the western theater of the war. 5. The fall of Vicksburg would still have foreshadowed the fall of Atlanta and, ultimately, the death of the Confederacy’s ability to wage a modern war. 6. This brings us back to point three: Could the Confederacy have outlasted the North’s willingness to wage this war? Maybe, but it would still have been a long shot with the odds stacked against them.

If Stonewall Jackson had survived, do you think the South would have achieved independence? I say yes. I will argue the many reasons why in a future publication.

@MericaCulture Which if the confederates burned the bridges there, it would have made communication between fronts, and supply shipments, much more difficult. Add on a csa victory at gettiesburg and you have the makings of a collapse in the east.

@MericaCulture If Jackson had been alive still, he would have been in command of ewells core, and would probably have taken Harrisburg before moving to gettiysburg, or at least sent enough men to do so. Harrisburg had the only rail bridge that connected east from west .cont.

@jebsmith764 If Jackson had been at gettiesburg it would have changed the whole battle. If he had even let Lee fight there, he would have taken cups hill the first day. Likely he would have talked Lee into fighting on better ground

The NYPD is crushing it when it comes to taking illegal mopeds and scooters off our streets. So far this year, the NYPD has seized over 5,700 of these dangerous, illegal vehicles — and we are not letting up.

@mike_slugs Parol was common on both sides, and both sides routinely broke it. But neither side really had facilities for pows and didn't want to waist men guarding them. Everyone hears about andersonville, but there were camps in the north that were almost as bad.

You’ll read Civil War history and there’ll be battles where the Union captures a bunch of confederates and they’ll make them swear an oath not to take arms against them again and let them go. And you’re like. You can’t be serious.
