Couldn’t there be an actual productive discussion about this? Instead of saying AI is here to stay, could you not suggest ways to use it without impeding upon the creative portions of it all? If you can have AI assist coders in doing the busy work, you cut down the time needed to implement assets, which in turn lets your art and writing team develop more pieces of art and more details for the story/scenarios. This should be a prime opportunity to letting the creatives focus on drawing and writing more while the game systems designer can also brainstorm more about how to make their own systems unique/more in depth. I think most people would be on board with that. Instead it’s either “Accept AI use for everything!” Or “Don’t use AI at all!” When clearly the cat is out of the bag, until the bubble pops at least. But if it’s there, shouldn’t it be better to actually focus it in areas that let the creatives create more, and not doing it for them?

Guys, we need to stop making the argument that the reason to boycott #AI “art” is because it’s “bad” or “slop” or “garbage”… We also need to stop making the argument that it’s “taking jobs from real people”… All of these things are true, but for 99.999% of the world, these things don’t matter. The main argument against generative #AIimages is that it is THEFT!!! Not hyperbolically or metaphorically, it is ACTUAL THEFT! It’s plagiarism! It’s ALREADY breaking the law! Everything else, as true as it may be, just gives the tech bros “ammo” like “art is subjective” and “you can’t stop progress”… it creates distractions from the ultimate goal of moving forward with this technology ethically. Their arguments against plagiarism are tissue-thin and easily obliterated. THAT should be our focus. THAT is how we win. #NoToGenerativeAI

This is the toughest animation I’ve worked on, a prime example of how to conjure deeply unsettling horror with AI. Yes, I had to run 25 iterations until I got a result that truly satisfied me… and even then, it’s not perfect (I wanted the girl to reach her hands through the hole, but in the best take, she ended up with extra fingers). That’s the downside of limited control over animations right now. Soon, this will be way easier. Grok Imagine is super sensitive to prompts: the words you choose, even word order. Feed it too many instructions, and it often gets lost. But it’s also highly intuitive. For example, here I didn’t need to add dialogue. Just put in the prompt: She screams for help As always, experimentation is the artist’s school.
