My cousin, who owns a small mining company and operates at a galamsey site, recently discovered a large deposit of gold. She was overjoyed by the find. However, the situation quickly took a troubling turn when the Ghanaian government moved to seize the raw gold, offering compensation in return.
She refused the offer, unwilling to give up what she believes rightfully belongs to her. Now, the government is threatening to revoke her citizenship if she continues to resist.

@serbeh_anthony @chase_esach Accra deserves more attention and care than you could possibly give it. Accra is a city that needs to continue to grow and it will only be able to do that if we fix the underlying issues in Ghana that are stopping growth.

Honestly, I believe one reason Accra changed dramatically is because of Rural-Urban migration
Successive governments failed to create opportunities in other parts of the country so everybody moved towards the opportunities and the authorities didn't do anything to maintain order

At this point, being unemployed feels better than going through this daily stress. Morning rush to work, same stress coming back home. Drivers increase fares because of “surge/high demand,” messing up your budget. You sit in traffic, get home late, wake up early to beat traffic… and still end up in traffic again, just to earn 3k at the end of the month chale.
This can’t be the life we’re meant to live.

China intentionally developed mega cities cos they wanted a certain type of development which could be achieved with high density

some countries have achieved so much that space exploration has become a norm... and then there is Africa, especially West Africa, typically Ghana, where we still can't get uninterrupted power supply, our health facilities are not well equipped and galamsey is the new ish.
