As a parent, there are some times when you question your decision. When you get barfed on at 2 am. When you get zero sleep and have to go to work the next day. When your kid throws a tantrum every time they walk into Target. But if you do it right, you'll make it through the gauntlet. Your children will mature before your very eyes. You'll reclaim your mornings (and they'll sleep in, too). You can even go to brunch if you want (shocker). Watching them grow will be your new favorite past time, though. You'll watch them excel in school and extra curriculars. You'll watch them become functioning adults, carrying on your blood line, and making you prouder than you've ever been of anything in your life. One day, they'll have careers of their own. Families of their own. They'll fill your house with love. They'll continue your legacy. And all this lady will have is a cat and empty wine bottles.

When you watch stuff like this as a parent, you realise how truly empty and meaningless all of those things are.

Big news: my wife's pregnant with #4! To us, this marks the transition to having a large family. What an absolute blessing to be dad x 4!! Super excited 😁

@singledadreboot Yep, it's seductive but a poor gauge of relationship success. I have yet to hear of any chasing of highs to satisfy the person chasing. It's mistaking the high of the chase for relationship material.

Some people don’t want a real relationship. They enjoy entertaining the fantasy of a relationship. Here are 3 signs you’ve been chasing a fantasy over a real relationship + why you do it 🧵⬇️ (#1 is the hardest to get over)

@sacredwildman Kids always suffer the most. Parents have to put their ego’s aside to make sure their kid is taken care of. It’s hard for a lot of adults to see things from the child’s perspective. Unless they have experienced it.

I've experienced this go wrong as a child when my parents separated. Egos got in the way and I unconsciously internalized the belief that I was the one who ruined the marriage. I'm grateful for the work I've done to heal and grow and now have a good relationship with my mom and dad. But for any parents reading who are going through this, know that the best way to set your child/children up well is to set aside your egos when co-parenting.

You're never done with your ex when you have kids. You hate each other's guts. I've been there. I get it. You have to make it work. Here is how:

@WealthWithYou My ex and I weren’t the best at it. But we came around. I have seen some parents play the “friend” role while the other parent was keeping their child accountable. Kids always suffered because of it.

@trentonfcole It’s hard when you have to make a choice as a co-parent. Both have to be flexible. You can’t always give up time. In my experience it usually evened out. I have seen some exes plan things outside their schedule on purpose. Which is just horrible behavior.

@singledadreboot As a kid of divorced parents I missed out on a lot of "fun" things because it was "Dad's weekend". He was flexible sometimes, but most of the time he wouldn't budge... Which as a parent now I sort of understand.

@ToughLoveWisdom A lot of men compete to be the better parent. If we’re talking about co-parenting. Otherwise it’s hiding the hurt behind a vice (compulsive behavior) which only makes things worse.

@singledadreboot Great advice Craig! Seems like you've become a master at this. What's the biggest mistake you see divorced men make?
