Witnessing all the violent racist attacks in England in utter disbelief & horror I was born & raised in England & have been a doctor in the NHS for over 15 years I’m British. Yet, for the first time, I feel I don’t belong in my own country and fear for my own & my kids’ safety due to the colour of our skin 😞

@PastoralKaty I have seen professional teachers desperate to teach a class whilst behaviour of one escalates wanting sole attention to violence. No respect here. In most instances the child wants what they want…a learned behaviour, not at all caused by a teacher trying to teach a class.

Some ppl would have no idea how much a full time classroom teacher has to push themselves to get through an entire academic year. In schools where workload is incessantly high, where behaviour is consistently horrific, where scrutiny is extreme, it's a monumental achievement.

True story today. My sister goes back to her male doctor armed with the correct questions re menopause. She is suffering and being given incorrect and sub standard treatment. Male Dr: what is the problem Sister: the debilitating fatigue, I can't even move some days Male Dr. Me too Sister then gives the other symptoms and asks for a referral to menopause clinic as no one is helping her at her GP. Male Dr: What do you think women in Sri Lanka do? They grin and bear it. They don't have the luxury of the expensive treatments that you are asking for. Male Dr: I will refer you, but it may be rejected. So my sister, suffering, was gaslighted in 3 ways; Her symptoms were diminished, she was told she should grin and bear it, she was told she may not get her referral. This is what women are up against. And this is a woman very well briefed in what to ask and expect. @drlouisenewson 🤷‍♀️

I've allowed staff to attend sports days, transition events, and end of year performances. It's not been easy covering it, but it was worth it to see staff return with smiles and genuine appreciation for allowing them to go. #littlethings

I was in a Zoom interview earlier. Nice lady asks me my pronouns. I say "as a detransitioner, I find that question offensive." She apologises and moves on. And yet, somehow, even though I didn't tell her my pronouns, she referred to me as she/her as she took notes. Mystery.
