One thing that keeps coming up after Pierre Poilievre’s Diary of a CEO interview is his personal story — adopted as a baby, raised by school teachers in a humble middle-class home, his father later came out as gay, and he married Anaida, who came to Canada as a refugee from Venezuela.
Yet a lot of people seem to really dislike him… while praising Justin Trudeau (raised with every advantage as the son of a former Prime Minister) and Mark Carney (the wealthy former banker).
How did so many in Canada end up feeling that way?

Also, bear in mind that the Firefly project is only in early development, hasn't been financed/is looking for funds, and doesn't yet have a studio or distributer formally attached. So it has a long road before it reaches "coming back," though I share everyone's hope it works.

With few exceptions, WB hasn't been pulling the trigger on anything for some time, waiting to see who buys the studio. Nobody wants to start developing a project only to have the new regime cancel it to start putting their own imprint on development going forward.

@straczynski Slight tangent, but how would you say working with Clint's straight-to-business directing has affected your screenwriting since Changeling? Did you pick up any particularly good tips or habits from it?

Yes and no. The strike hit 10 days into shooting; Clint had months to request revisions but chose to lock the first draft spec as the production/shooting draft. The strike only precluded on-set changes, which Clint generally never allowed anyway once a draft was locked.
